I recently upgraded to a Samsung Galaxy S23+. While doing my usual digging on my new devices, I've come across what sounds like a difference between 'fast charging' and 'super fast charging'. At least, that's according to the Samsung website which is incidentally also telling me I need proprietary chargers to get this faster charging ability.
I'm big on 'buy it once' so I'm happy to spend a little more if this IS the case and setup my charging this way. However, thought I'd check other's mileage. I like the convenience of wireless charging, so I've been looking at the 50W Duo Power Adaptor paired with the 15W Wireless Charging Pad.
I see some of the chargers (specifically the wireless pad) have some poor reviews, but it's a bit hard to tell if it's just people using the wrong cables and not getting the desired results. Which raises a further clarification, will I need a specific type / capacity of powerboard in order to get the desired super fast charging.
Keen to hear other's experiences -
EDIT: There's some confusion over my preferences for wireless and wanting super fast charging, so I'll clarify. I keep my phones in hard cases for work. Some times I pull apart the case and need a fast charge if I'm going out for the night, otherwise I leave it the case and use wireless pads. I'm happy getting a slower charge on a wireless pad as I typically use it to charge overnight, in combination with battery protection modes on a time schedule set up in the phone settings. So the plan would be for the 50W adaptor with two USB-C to USB-C cables, one for plugging in when I need the super fast charging, the other plugged into the 15W wireless pad.
I'm not sure if it's true but you can do your own research. I recall that super fast charging can degrade the battery a little quicker than regular charging. The difference is probably minor but could make a difference if you hold on to your phones for many years. If you get a new phone every year then it's the next owners problem, not yours.
