After a few airbeds, got a Bestway Alwayzaire with the quiet automatic pump that tops it up during the night - it’s amazing, odd but great to wake up on a fully inflated mattress. I don’t think I’d ever buy another one without that feature (unless its for camping)

    • Fact check me on this but i think the material used for air mattress expands as temperature drops. Which obviously the temperature drops throughout the night expanding the material giving the illusion that its deflated throughout the night.

Didnt even know there was auto inflating throughout the night. Fanatastic tip thank you!

      • If that was the case (or perhaps more plausibly, the air pressure drops as the air inside cools) and there was also minimal leakage, then the bed would seem to ‘reinflate’ as it warms the next day. But that doesn’t seem to happen in my experience, at least not to a meaningful degree

    • Totally agree. The rechargeable battery version is brilliant for quick camping set ups. It still has the auto inflate dual pump

      • I don’t often shop at Big W - is this item likely to go on sale there at some point?

        • Sometimes. I bought mine at bcf for $100 on sale when they used to stock them. Most you see advertised are the 240v version. It would be super to easy to buy the wrong one. It takes a fair bit of work to find the battery version. If it has a usb out it is the 240v version. If the ad mentions usb charging (for the battery) it is the battery version.

wait what, do people sleep in airmattresses when they are NOT camping?

      • +1

They’re great if you have people over and don’t have a guest room

  • I bought the single size airbed from Amazon for much more expensive than this one recently. Damn.
    It is still comfy though.

  • I've done a few trips with one of these and am happy with it. Glad I didn't go with the "high" one as the kids already fall off it occasionally during the night. It packs down nice and small for compact storage and inflates easily when paired with the ozito workshop blower!

  • One of the rewies:
Deflates 2 to 3 times during the night. Wouldnt purchase again.

  • How do these compare to the recent Aldi one for $99?

Honestly, airbeds are the worst. They never last more than a few inflations before they start leaking. I went through roughly 2-3 airbeds over the years before I gave up on them.

Spent a bunch of time looking for alternative options and comparison reviews online. I was primarily focused at camping and I ended up getting a Coleman Big Sky Stretcher Bed. They are so much better in every single way. Fold up and down quickly and easily, they are surprisingly comfy (more than any half deflated air bed) and the space under the bed is very handy for extra storage in a tent. The reviews typically say if you want extra comfort, you can get a thicker foam topper or use a self inflating camping mattress but a good quality self inflating mattress can be very expensive.

Get an Exped mattress and never have to think about this again.

    Buy once cry once.

    • 100%, our Exped is just as comfy as our bed mattress that cost thousands of dollars. We use it for guests when we're not camping and other people have commented how good it is.

      • Out of curiosity which exact model / exped mattress do you have ?
In need of a good camping mattress

        • MegaMat Max 15 Duo LW+ currently on sale at Snowys for $550 (RRP$750). 15 is the thickest one, Exped has a 10 as well. From memory this size is equivalent to a queen size mattress. Yes, it's expensive but in this case you get what you pay for, it's an end game mattress. If mine gets stolen or damaged, I won't hesitate to get the exact same one again.

          • @MeagerDollarBucks: Have had one of these, think it is the same one but older maybe (was yellow top, your linked one looks thicker). It was good but not amazing, has recently developed a leak at the air intake. Also very bulky.

    • What one do you recommend?

  • Air matresses are good for sleeping on the the floor gradually.
