This is pretty cool. Would be even better if it can be shoved over onto wled or something

use as dynamic L or P plates for front and back of cars. beats having to manually put up or take down for those new teen drivers households…

Sorry but this is terrible advice, in most(all?) states it is illegal to have any lights displayed in your car window. Not to mention this wouldn’t be visible at all during the day.

Don’t Uber and the like display a lit CPV sign? At least in Victoria I thought they did.

        • +2

PV sign is just a sticker in SA at least.

  • +2

A shame it's not waterproof, looking for something just like this for signs on my Christmas Light displays.

    • +5

Why don't you waterproof it by yourself?

  • Anyone know can this display the time?

I wanted a divoom pro for ages but haven’t seen it go sub $ 80 for maybe years..

    • +1

From the images on the page, yes.

    • +1

Yeh I got one, you can.
      Hugely customisable to

    Manufacturer warranty: 1 month. Crazy!

Accc says “nah, don’t think so!”

    • This is why I would buy one of these from K-Mart vs Temu.

With K-Mart you can just walk in an ask for a refund.

  • I assume you can't edit straight on the display. Does anyone know which app this uses so I can check ease of use? The link to the manual is….no good

I was doing some research and there is one of this Anko LED display for sale on eBay with a photo of the back with an QR code. It leads to iDotMatrix.

There is a drawing app but it sucks. Returned mine as the images are very generic and too hard to design your own

I picked up a few of these from AliExpress years ago with a higher pixel count and they work well. My only gripe is that the brightness can be abit low.

  • +7

Can this be used on the rear parcel shelf of my car to display custom messages to other drivers?
    Asking for a friend…

    • +8

Yes just pick up your phone to bluetooth it whilst driving for extra convenience.

  • +3

    Found the app http://api.e-toys.cn/page/app/140

    Used to be $49

    • Trust in random junk apps at all time high

  • Are you able to have basic text scroll on this

    • Yes. Design your own, upload images or choose from designs in the app (both from dev and others)

  • They have a "manual", where it's described what's app and how to use … https://www.kmart.com.au/wcsstore/Kmart/pdfs/43434183_Manual…
But I can not read it…

Apparently it's mobile app controlled display via bluetooth

    • Correct. Super easy to use .

  • How many megapixels?

      0.0003

    16 x 16 ones are not that good .. you can find for $30-40 from temu with a 32 x 32 display

    • Yeah cheaper on Ali/Temu unless I want to pick one now. I need one that can be customizable and works with pi or other controllers. Any experiences?

      • +1

No unfortunately I don’t know .. you might want to check the Divoom one with 64x64 grid but that’s around $130 on Aliexpress
Edit : even more now it’s $173 pre tax

Can this be connected to Home Assistant? Could be good to display messages when things happen.

    • +5

this is what you are looking for https://blueforcer.github.io/awtrix3/

      • Thanks. This is what I came to find out. Do we know that AWTRIX will work on this particular product?
        Have you done it?
I'd like to use it for icon messages controlled by Home Assistant.

        • I don’t know for sure but it most likely won’t work with awtrix (judging from the display format and the unknown mcu)

  • Wondering what MCU it is using

There is more than one Marvel Cinematic Universe?

      • +1

Yeah, the one until Avengers: Endgame and the ones after.

Depends whether it runs a Marvell chipset

Perfect way to flex my NFT collection on my windowsill to the neighbour next door! Thanks OP 😉

    • +2

Do you have this one 🍑💦🍆 ?

      • +1

        Depends whose asking 😉

Can I do this on 1 display, or would I need 3?

        • +2

The display is only 7.8" x 7.8" so you should be fine to fit all 3 together and still have a few more inches of space for a bucket of tears lool

Configure any iDotMatrix compatible 16x16 or 32x32 pixel display without the chinese iDotMatrix android / iOS app.

    https://pypi.org/project/idotmatrix/

  • For not much more than that ($55), you can get a (probably crappy, yet better than a dumb screen — as in "dumb terminal") on Temu.

  • Manufacturer warranty 1 month lol

You just need another 8,152 and you can make a gigantic FULL HD screen! 👍

    • any more left?

    • Nice. Wonder if other stores would price match? I'd love to get a bunch for gifts.
