App for Retouching Old Black and White and Recolour for Faded Photos - Apple

Hello Brains Trust,
I am looking for an app that I can use on my iMac Desktop for retouching both Black and white photos and to recolour old colour photos. I am reasonably computer literate but I don't want a complicated app. A free app would be nice but I don't see that being the best way to go however I don't want to spend alot of money either. I have looked at the App Store but none of them specially say about retouching old black and white photos.

    Get trial of photoshop , has automatic neural filter for black and white. Worked decently well last time I tried.

      Skip the trial and use Photopea.com instead. It's practically a free browser-based clone of Photoshop.

    Nothing wrong with GIMP, imo. It's free, too.

    I have Photoshop, but I often use GIMP instead.

    Thanks Moi Too. I had Gimp years ago so think I will give that a shot first.
