[VIC] Anko 2.4m Balsam Christmas Tree $10 (RRP $129) @ Target, Knox City

530

Saw these in Target Knox, 8ft tree for $10… Doubled checked the price scanner and could not believe it. But then again I don't need it, might be useful for next Christmas.

They don't want to store them, so they sell them at a price they'll sell at

Shows how much profit these stores make

This will be below cost, but clearing them at $10 is still better than literally putting them in a skip, or warehousing them until next year.

They'll just buy 20% less next year.

      • this is the exact logic they will be using !!

They had already made a profit, even though the product was sold below cost price. There must be some undisclosed agreement between the company and the factory, known only to those two parties. I suspect the factory owner is the one absorbing the discounted price.

That said, I’m confident the factory owner has factored in such scenarios when calculating the cost price offered to their buyers.

In other words, everyone is profiting, but it seems like we, as end user are reaping the most significant benefits.

This is how the big company make money, otherwise, if every year like this, they wont make a profit at all.

      • Won't be the factory in China.
Target is absorbing this. They would have made heaps prior to Christmas, but the stock has to go to make way for back to school sales

Why would factory absorb this ? Doesn’t make sense.

          Because they supplied too many.
From China they should have known in advance how many we Aussies would buy in each store and refused to send any more than that.
          (or something)
          um….

@AdModnar: They didnt supply too much. Target ordered too many. They only supplied Targets order

@whey4000: So they missed their 🎯?

            • -1

              @whey4000: yes.
I intended that to be clear from the last two lines, if not from the text before them, but seems I failed there.

$5 at my local target for the big trees. $2 for the 1.8m ones

    • Same here, walked the missus well clear of them.
Good price but I don't need a new tree every year

    • $1 at my local but all sold within minutes of pricing them

  • Anyone know of any stores in south Brisbane that have some in stock?

    • Brisbane City. Around 100 of them this afternoon.

  • Fake snow crap falls off with a slight glance. It's the only painfully thing.

Thanks OP, got one, only less than a handful left at Westfield Knox. Everyone was walking out the store with a tree. Heaps of smaller ones left for $5/$10.

Pro Tip: You can also use these as Easter Trees, Birthday Trees and Halloween Trees! You don't need a dedicated fake plastic tree for each occasion!

    • I do like the idea of wrapping up a few varieties of Hot Cross Buns under the tree!

  • Just bought the same one in Target Brimbank yesterday for $16, now my Ozb soul is heavily damaged

    • Return and earn.

  • Anyone seen the 9 ft / 2.7m pre lit one on sale? I think it came pre-lit as well
