    St Kilda Beach Shelter

Can I use this shelter at Surfers Paradise Beach?

  • Seems like it may have originally been 189.99 but most recently was $69, looking at the website copy?

Still might be a decent pick up. I wonder how small it packs up to.

Check the total size, I got something similar and it fits 4 people!!!

      • Oh I mean in terms of the carry bag!

But room for four is pretty good (though possibly only good for one total me as I'm 6'6").

  • Can you actually pack it down? Or do you become one of those people carry back the half folded down shelter back to your car?

    • Yes

    • we got one a few years ago. Can’t remember the model but looks awfully similar. Packs down to about 140% the size of a folded deck chair. Fits 4 comfortably. Front folds up so you get total privacy when changing.

Whole thing collapses with a tug so you can up and go within a min.

  • Wow. Retail price for $189.99. Must be a very quality beach shelter.

  • Bought a Wanderer “instant up” shelter like this [https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/353644](a few years back for $39.)

Used it once. They’re not great; in the QLD heat anyways. No airflow even with the “windows” open.

    Just get a CoolCabana.

    • Any particular technique to dealing with the issue of the shade moving with the sun position? I've seen folks with a CC sitting well outside the canopy when the sun is lower in the sky

@y2k The CoolCabana's have one pole, so it's easy enough to lift up and then angle it into the sand so that one end is lower to cut the sun out… I've done it a couple of times when the family wanted to stay out longer at the beach. The group you saw was probably CBF! Lol!

  • These are just a waste of time unless you like being on your own, huddled up in a corner. Grab something like a Sun Ninja instead

  • I’ve had one of these for a while and it seems good quality. I love how quickly it is to set up and put away.

You'd be better off with one of these IMHO.

Same size, but with silver sunblock lining, 3x windows (better airflow), more sand pockets, more interior pockets for storage and a fully zippable front panel.

I'd take the $189 RRP with a grain of salt.

Or get this one for $5. Got two of them for $3.75 each with the sidewide 25% on Boxing Day and picked them up the same day. Packs up super small and is easily put up. Quality is on the lower side but it does what it is supposed to - I.e provide shade.

    • Do you have the dimensions when packed up?
