Not suitable as a deal so I'm posting here in the forums. Wing has announced the latest Mystery Box he's releasing, this time in an all-ceramic build. As is common for Aragon, these will be big boys at either 44mm or 50mm but you can be assured the build quality will be solid. Wing's posted a teaser video here with links to the order pages for both sizes. Pricing is US$158* and shipping has always been US$35 per item lately, so at today's exchange rate that's approximately $310 local dollarydoos. Shipping starts in early February.

ppl still wear physical wrist watches ???

even "smart watches" == more market share than that of traditional wrist-watches.
this market is growing smaller by the year … hence need for such gimmicks as "mystery boxes".

    • Growing smaller? Gosh, where have you been hiding out lately? (BTW, I didn’t neg you for sharing your honest opinion.). The analogue watch market is stronger than it’s been in years, and even here on OzBargain there are plenty of enthusiasts who are active seekers, buyers, or collectors.

I agree that smart watches have their place, and they’re dominating the market in wearable time pieces, but they aren’t for everyone. Myself, for example, I wore an Apple Watch daily for three years - I liked what it offered and I found many of the features genuinely useful. It was attractive and durable, and I could always depend on it to be super-accurate for time. But, the bane of these devices is battery life and updates. In due course the batteries are going to fail - not a question of ‘if’ but ‘when’, and if you can even replace them at all it’s going to be an expensive exercise. Even then, there’s going to be a point when the manufacturer no longer supports it for software. Currently it stands about 3-4 years before a smart watch becomes unusable e-waste. On the other hand (no pun intended), my automatic analogue watches will still be running and the quartz watches may require a new coin cell, which I can do myself for about a dollar. That’s if it’s not a Casio, which are renowned for having phenomenal battery life - example here.

So, to answer your question, most definitely yes, many people do still wear physical wrist watches. I actually switched away from a smart watch because I found it was making me pick up my phone more often with the constant reminders and I wanted to stop that. However, once I bought one nice analogue watch I realised there was a while world out there and I was bitten by the bug. The mystery box mentioned in this post genuinely interests me as I’m curious to see what it will look like.

Would I wear a smart watch again? Probably not. Do I think smart watches wearers are in the wrong? Not at all - you do you and all that, if it makes you happy then go for it.
