Looking for Sydney Wedding Recommends (Photographer, Chinese and English MC and Celebrant, Live Music, Florist, Wedding Planner)

Planning for our wedding next year in Sydney (newish to Sydney so don't have family + friends recommends).

I'm looking to get the best value to price whilst still retaining quality where possible under each different category.

Does anyone have any particular recommends for each category in Sydney as seen below?

I'm not big on weddings as most of it for show, but my partner is, so looking to get the best value.

I've been trying to shop around and have come with the following quotes.

Please let me know if we're over / under budget for any of the above or if you have any particular business recommends for each of the categories.

Category
Venue for 60 persons (Max 350) BOOKED
Chinese Wedding Planner Free if we use their recommended services shown below (X-Man Wedding)
Chinese / English Marriage Celebrant + MC $1000 (Celebrant to MC + Sing with Guitar) or $600 (Celebrant only therefore MC needed)
Chinese / English Live Band (Optional) N/A - Still looking, so considering above
Photography and Videography including pre-wedding package $7400 - https://cloverimage.com.au/fullscreen/en/
Wedding Cake (Wedding Planner recommend) $400
Florist Ceremony and Reception (Wedding Planner recommend) $2600 (mix of fake and real flowers)
1 x Wedding Car (Wedding Planner recommend) $800 per day (at least)
2 x Tailored Suit, Shoes, Tie, Shirt, Pants, Belt $2000 budget

I have excluded items which we have already booked and decided upon.

Wedding Planner

If we use the Wedding Planner recommends by X-Man Wedding, they can assist on the day with coordination with the above.

Photographer and Videographer
I am very picky about the photographer so leaning towards Clover Image's leading photographer who won many awards prior to 2017, however if you have a better recommend including price please let me know. The alternative I liked was Inlighten who won NSW Wedding Photographer of the year recently, however they were $10k+.

Florist
I have no idea what's a reputable florist for weddings but not very picky, just looking for bang for buck.

Don't say it's for a wedding. Your prices will be jacked.

  • I'd recommend you read this thread re: videography at weddings.

    • I did have a look, that's more on why photographers are expensive which is understandable as I've done event photography before (I spent 5-10 mins editing per photo up to 300 photos) and got rehired for another shoot. That's 50 hours editing + 4 hours in person shooting for 1 event for $1000. Barely above minimum wage.

I will be getting RAW files from Clover Image so I can also do some self-editing on Lightroom.

I'm looking for specific recommended businesses so I can compare and get quotes from.

      • I guess I am more asking… are you EVER going to watch the video again? I reckon an OzB poll of the question would probably swing in the 20:1 ratio of no, so why pay for it, set up a go-pro or get a friend to record some highlights on a phone.

Ah, our budget for the photographer is on the pricier side as usually the average price for wedding ceremony and reception is $2-4k and $1-2k for pre-wedding shoots.

But it's an investment that is on our priority list as my partner rewatches videos including TV series over and over again and I can appreciate good photography, so we're looking for good photographer and videographer.

If under 7k and get recommended someone better that's a huge bonus.

@Fat Horny Ghost: OzB needs a remind me function so I can come back to this comment in 20 years and you can tell me how many times on one hand they re-watched the video. Photos I get, hang them up, post them, send to family, what not, but video…

Of course, I wish you a happy wedding and future life together. Just giving you my free cents.

Can't help on the recommendation but from the other thread, 7K doesn't sound too bad.

  • Just hijack an OzBargain meetup.
