Hi all - looking for some recommendations for the best value 4K monitor (with USB C hub) for WFH and some light casual gaming coming into 2025. Trawling through the forms I see the Dell S2722QC often recommended, but wondering if this still holds up moving forward?
Best Value 4K Monitor 2025
Comments
4K I think because it looks best with my MacBook - have heard that 1440p doesn't scale as well. I think 60Hz is fine for now as I don't know any better (never used a higher refresh rate)
If you really care about having USB-C built into the monitor, yes S2722QC is a great choice for WFH and casual gaming.
If you want USB-C but don't care about it being built into the monitor, another option is to buy the S2721QS which is AFAIK identical apart from lack of USB-C, and often a fair bit cheaper, and buy a second-hand USB-C dock off ebay e.g. Dell WD19TBS for around $80. Advantages of this are the S2721QS is often under the $300 threshold for immediate tax deduction, if you need/want to replace the monitor in future you don't need to pay the premium for a USB-C monitor, and the dock supports dual monitors via a single USB-C cable.
I have a S2722QC (paid $399), S2721QS (paid $249), and WD19TBS dock (paid $80) in dual monitor setup. Both are excellent monitors.
I don't have a super-powerful graphics card so I play most games at 1920x1080 (which scales well on a 4K monitor).
wow very helpful thanks
That really depends on your personal preferences. 27" is far too small for productivity and immersive gaming for me, with 32" being the minimum monitor and 65" minimum TV size.
Why do you want 4K? Is 60 Hz sufficient? Does response time matter to you?
