Best Value MacBook for Editing? (Premiere Pro)

Looking to upgrade my 2020 M1 8GB MBA since I'm noticing some lag when working on Premiere.

What's the best value for editing in Premiere Pro specifically?

Was hoping for some sales but AOC pricing beats all of them, and I don't think you can get the Back to School promo with AOC

  • I edit on a 32gig M1 Pro MacBook Pro, goes fine with everything I throw at it (BRAW+XAVC). If I start having issues with effects or I'm doing a big project (or like 4 camera multicam), I use proxy footage anyway.

Imo go one of the M4's with at least 16gig ram (pref 24 or 32gb) and you'll be sweet.

    • 1000% agree memory will be IT. I did video editing on a PC with 16Gb and it would take ages and ages, but when I upgraded to 32GB it was allot faster.
Remember MAC and PC memory are not the same die to BSD V's MS memory usage.

They are the same, macOS just does memory management better. 16GB does not magically equal 32GB, just like 8GB doesn't equal 16GB, no matter what Apple says.

  • What about the base M4 with 16gb for 4k video editing? I currently have base M1 and it struggles a but when project gets big in final cut pro.

  • If on a budget get an M1 Pro with as much memory you can afford. Check apple refurbished
