    For $14 I have decided to give it a crack.

    Though it looks like aluminium, which goes black in the dishwasher. Yet it says dishwasher proof… I hope that's not because of the plastic coating you refer to…

      Bought one a year ago for $16, it has been used ~15 times and washed in the dishwasher each time, no issues with the coating at all. Highly recommend from my experience.
