  • It's a really good offer. However, Quickflix offer has been mentioned a number of times in OZB and most of them are still valid. Quick search found this http://www.ozbargain.com.au/search/node/quickflix

hi thanks for your feedback, i saw that list but none had 2 month unlimited so thats why i posted it, cheers.

      • I believe this one is still valid http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/60184. Does not mention about the 'Play' one though

        • yes amazingly it still seems valid but doesn't include Play so value is $45.98 not $59.98. Nice find mate

Personally, Netflix streaming is the way to go. $8 p/m, first month free.
If you're really cheap, you can close your account each month and reopen. First Free Months Forever!

    • Newbie question, but is Netflix only available in the US ? How did you register with them ?

      • +1

use smartdns or vpn service then register online, australian credit card works fine.

        • Can you please recommend a smartdns or VPN service ?

        • +3
        • i use www.overplay.net smartdns service for $5 per month and its excellent, speed does not get slowed down at all like when using vpn

        • Can't go past strongvpn.com
$50 a year. I use it to stream HD Netflix.
          Their customer service is fantastic.

        • Another vote for unblock-us. It is better than a VPN as it doesn't actually change your IP and doesn't slow down your browsing at all. Just tricks certain sites into believing your in that country by using their DNS's. All other traffic gets routed through your normal ISP's DNS.

        • +1

No it doesn't? All traffic is routed through unblock-us' DNS, just that some of it shows to certain sites you're in the US/UK etc.

Your computer doesn't know what DNS address to use at all until you either set it automatically (if your modem allows that) or manual IP address pointing to whatever DNS server you are using. It can't then just automatically decide that you want to go to www.ozbargain.com.au and use your ISP's DNS to get the address (if it's not cached already) when it has no way of knowing what your ISP's DNS server is in the first place.

        • Sorry I didn't properly articulate what I meant. All traffic initially gets sent to the unblock-us DNS. It then is assessed if it is on their list of content or not. If nott then it doesn't continue through their servers and the site sees your normally address and location. My point still stands though in that for most people this will be better than a VPN as it doesn't slow down your traffic at all.

        • I agree with you dwhes, unblock-us is a better solution (atleast for me). StrongVPN will be slower to use overall compared to DNS re-routing.

    • i have netflix too and its great but you also need a vpn or smartdns subscription which adds at least $5 to the cost.

Yep can't got past Netflix and Unblock-us. $13 a month for a huge amount of content streamed in HD. I also just signed up to Hulu which is also great.

      • I was trying to use my credit card but i couldnt get pass the oart where it ask you to verify the post code. I tried putting in random US post code but it still error come up says your post code does not match your credit card blah blah. Please help me

        • I just added a 0 to my postcode to make it 5 figures and that worked for me

        • Try a different browser. I've heard reports that it helps for some weird reason.

    • I wasn't able to get HD streaming working when I signed up. This was through a DNS changer rather then a VPN as well.

    • double post please delete

      • Surprising. What ISP are you with and what sync speed? My brother can get Netflix HD (as well as Hulu Plus HD) on his 6-7Mbps ADSL with Internode…

        • Telstra 100mbit, get 110 mbit speeds :)

Telstra have good pings to the US as well.

Not sure if it was just a glitch or normal.

        • Definitely sounds like a glitch! You trying it on your PC, Apple TV, Roku etc?

I used to use their service about 6 years ago. You could keep reusing the same codes under a different account. Then they got rid of unlimited accounts.

How many DVDs are you allowed to have out at a time? That's a key piece of info. If you're allowed 4 at a time you'll get a lot more movies than if you were allowed 2.

Also, if you're on a free trial you can't use the service that allows you to inform them that you've returned the movie already, so you have to wait till it physically gets back before they send the next one, once again halving the effective amount of movies you can watch.

It works out a lot better if you can have a $5 for a month of unlimited coupon, because you're treated as a paying customer which means you get full use of the "returned" function, allowing you twice as many movies.

Also, if you're on a free trial you can't use the service that allows you to inform them that you've returned the movie already

I was using a Quickflix 1 month free trial (came with a Blu-Ray player I bought) a few months ago and I could inform them when I've returned movies.

      • Ditto. You just need to visit the webpage that shows your queue.

        • I guess they changed that then. Years ago they didn't allow it, so movies took twice as long, which meant you only got half the movies.

you can get 2 at a time and the turnaround is very quick.

  • however i believe you can create a new account in a different name (not sure)

I can confirm this worked, even with the same PayPal account.

    • thanks mate, updated in description :)

      • You can use the same Paypal account and it will work system wise however that is not stopping quickflix from calling you informing they have cancelled your trial run due to this and you need to return their discs, they do manual investigation after "new" customers join (again).

          What do they look at?

          Is it just name?

          Cresit card number?

          Addresa?

What signifies a 'previous' account to their manual checkng process?

          Anyone know?

        • would like to know the answer to this too!

  • Is online cancellation possible now? When i tried them couple of years ago i had to call them and the rep tried to convince me to stay for 30 mins before cancelling the account. Dont wanna go through that hassle again.

    • +1

you will need to call to cancel :( but just tell them you are moving overseas, hard to argue with that lol…

      • I was on a 2 month Post and play trial from a flyer in Yellow Letterbox deal with 4 DVD's per month, 2 at a time and they stooged me the 2nd month of DVD's!

I was initially just taking my time to watch and return them, (as was watching online ones as well via PS3 which is pretty sweet) but into the second month, and was like, "i havn't been sent any new DVD's for a while". Contacted them on web form 2 weeks before end and at first they said 'no - it's only 4 - and you've had 4" I questioned them several times on e-mail and they kept saying no, till it was a few days before renwal time, so i cancelled and left them a nasty e-mail and then the mongrels said "oh yeah, you were meant to get 8, but sorry, we can't send you now because you cancelled your account." F*#kers!

So yeah, keep a watch on your DVD's and question them straigt away if your not getting them.

Also, for me, i could just cancel from within my online account. very easy, no call needed.

Now how to sign up again.. would love to see how many DVD's i can get with UNLIMITED… !!!

Re online/streaming content - A lot of old movies and tv shows you've either probably already seen before, or never wanted to watch anyhow. Although, there was a few jems here and there, but pretty limited. we pretty much watched all there was for online. (although they were adding new things each week - this was back in Sep/Oct 2012)
