Had mine for 7 years and still going strong . Best shoes I have used for camping, hiking and hunting. Have used it alot over winter.

dang i just watched the first review link i posted.. doesn't look like the stitching holds up after heavy use.. was hoping the stitching would atleast hold up..not sure how hard it would be to restitch one of these. buyer beware

    • Sorry mine are GTX 2

yea im normally size 12 and bought a size 12 of a saloman hiking boot previously.. and it was way too tight.. hurt my feet.. so this time i was going to go for size 13.. but after seeing that the seems come apart.. might skip this boot.. want something that wont fall apart as fast ^^P

THIS is the Salomon boot to buy IF you can find it (at a good price). Wide fit and great quality. I have two pairs of the GTX 2 (one wide, both half a size up) which are excellent and reviews suggest the 3 is better. BUT….. reviews also suggest X Utra GTX 4 is not as good and none of the mid range (Quest, pioneer, Braze, 360 etc) is the same quality (hence the prices). Person preference, but for muddy/wet walking I'd be buying a leather upper boot, treating it, and wearing it in.

Couple of useful sites for boot tests/reviews are runrepeat.com and rei.com

Can anyone else weigh in on the quality of these?

I had a pair of these. Leaked from day 1 and the stitching came apart on the second or third hike. Anaconda (who I purchased from refunded me) and I moved on to better shoes.

Got the gtx mid… Stitching still intact almost worn out the soles in about 2 years though.

      Definitely 1/1.5 sizes up needed.
