Well it is almost mid of Boxing Day sale now.
I visited most of the stores including DFO in NSW and using most online services (amazon, ebay, catch, ozsale) and online of the vendor. Have spent more than $3k till now and I track prices of major brands I shop most of the time of the year and other sales.
Based on my reaction and experience so far (I maybe wrong and it will depend but in general):
Good ones:
Some deals in JB Hi-Fi were good (especially TV)
Amazon some deals for particular sizes, colours such as shoes, pants for brands such as Gess, Columbia, Tefal cookware were good
Little higher end: Boss and Coach: not bad with the overpriced products. Boss was 50% store wide and esp in DFO they are trying to clear unsold ones. Coach is 40% other times this time it was 50%.
Moderate ones:
Politix (Price jacked up and mis-using term "extra 30%", but they actually mean is: they have some jacked up price, 199 for a shoe, then in site they are showing 96, and it does not mean you will get 30% of $96 (as Myer does) but they have some other imaginary intermediary price ($121) and $96 is final price.
Sketchers: ok deals but same deals, nothing special (their websites had better deal than this may be in Sept-Oct)
Tommy Hilfiger: Same deals and they have deal throughout the year now a days everywhere DFO, Myer.
Myer: No higher than 40% in most, you will be disappointed, but it also shows may be hard time they have having due to competition and inability to offer any good deals. I went to at least 3 Myer stores.
Polo Ralph Lauren: They have jacked up prices much higher in few year, maybe they want to establish themselves as company selling less product and high margin. Sale in some specific products.
Other moderates: Superdry
Nike is between moderate and bad considering they have same sale throughout the year (40% and 50% on special occasion) and considering you have to spend 1 hour in queue and you do not get sizes.
Bad or fishy ones (or I didn't like):
Lacoste especially in DFO (believe me, though they say 50% store wide, price wise they had better deal earlier and using misleading trick with two price stickers on each product) and in DFO it was all outdated stuffs.
Gant (you get what they were offering almost in most time of the year, also they were using trick having hoodie discounted and putting at the front making people believe there was discount, but actually same price through out the year and esp DFO you get deal for XL,XXL only.
Puma (eBay one is good but DFO horrible, they do not have even 25% products on display, shoes as well, most probably they have problem with space)
Kathmandu, Mac Pro (Same discounts, that is why this is the only main store where there were no queue)
Rodd and Gunn (Almost no sale other than some clearance, even the staff were free as usual. My personal opinion or prediction is this one maybe in line of going to voluntary admin in future like Marcs)
David Jones: No real sale other than dumping some of the items for clearance
JD: Didn't find anything which they do not offer any other time
Higher end: Armani, Burberry were not good. Almost same price.
Rebel, Culture Price, Guess, Timberland were also disappointing. Only who goes for shopping on Boxing Day only may feel they are getting bargain.
Maybe will help some.
Just sharing my experience. I may add up more if anything is relevant or based on what others share.
Nice wrap-up. It will no doubt be helpful for some.
DFO after Christmas or watch the cricket? I'll take the cricket.
