$1871 from Apple AOC store direct.

Most likely a $240 apple voucher or "Free" AirPods for Apples back to school promo in a week or so as well. So depends on what you value.

    • +1

Indeed. Also perhaps further price drops if the new M4 version comes out in Jan- March (rumoured sooner than later). but…the M4 MBA will no doubt not be included in the back to school promotion.

    • +1

For that you will have to use the regular education website not AOC which doesn't give the same discount.

All the macbook deals that keep popping up none of them beat the AOC price which is available all the time.

  • +2

Likely M4 by the end of Jan

    • -1

Yep. Honestly not worth spending even $1690 (using AOC + GC) for an M3 MacBook Air at this close to Jan 2025.

      • +3

Eh if you need it now it’s the best price I could find and the performance upgrade from M3 to M4 won’t be meaningful for most (and even that might not arrive until March latest). It’s going for the equivalent of $1900 where I live in the UK so $1790 down to ~$1600 after TRS for me next week is a steal

        • Yes definitely the case if you need one now.
That is the way with IT gear. Although less so with Apple.

          • @entropysbane: This is my sentiment. IT equipment as a whole is kinda ok to get as soon as you want. Apple though? Not really when you consider the many M1 and M2 (not to mention M3) MacBook Air on FB Marketplace.

        • +2

The M3 is such a strong upgrade that waiting for the M4 doesn’t make much sense. We don’t even know the M4’s release date and it’ll likely come at a higher price. Plus there’s no guarantee the M3 will see a big discount when the M4 arrives. With the M3’s performance and the deal available now, it’s the smarter choice if you need a laptop soon.

          • @chaffer: Lol, M3 is not a strong upgrade from M2, maybe M1 (but then it's close enough to M4 release that might come with even better MacBook Air specs than 256gb/8gb). Anyway, that was quite frankly the main complaint that blew up when M3 was announced. It is the M4 that is the praised one.

  • How is refurbished at Apple store?, they are used once returned or fixed ones that are backed buy same warranty. $1489.00

    https://www.apple.com/au/shop/product/FLY43X/A/refurbished-1…

    • It's both, fixed ones under warranty and those that were used and returned within the 14 day trial period (sometime extended for longer periods) that had no issues.

    • +4

8gb ram instead of OPs 16gb. Worth noting.

    • Seriously? You are considering paying $1,489 for a refurbed M2 Air 8GB?

Brand new M2 Air 16GB was $1,250 a week before BF.

  • +1

Good deal, upvoted but I personally am waiting till Jan-March for the M4 version. It should have a larger price drop for the M3 versions or for a bit more could get the M4 version which should have a baseline increase at previous gen baseline price.

  • Officeworks don’t price match clearance prices!!

    • OW price-matched invoice in description

  • $1888 @ Harvey Norman (Price Beat $1793.60 @ OW)

$1888 will bring you more luck though.

Won’t need to pay for extended warranty.

  • When did Apple start selling 16GB ram models outside of their website?

    • +5

Since the OzB No more 8GB in Laptop movement reached Timmy's desk.

In reality… they needed to move because of all the attention it was getting and that STUPID remark that 8GB on OSX is the same as 16GB on PC that some executive made. Especially when RAM chips hardly affected their BOM.

      • +1

Good to know. Looks like this started end of October 2024 where 16GB is default

    • +1

16GB is the baseline for all Apple Macs now. Any 8GB model still floating around is old stock at a slight discount.

  • i had a 13 inch 2015 model and the screen was too small to work on i found my self squinting to see most of the time. i wonder if i will have the same issue with the 14 pro

    • 13" is small. I find 14" a happy medium, however I wouldn't want to work on it for long periods.

Personally I have moved to a 16" because of that reason.

1). Potential eye issues from strain etc from small screen.
2). Shoulder issues from working on a cramped laptop, smaller laptop means keys are squished in more.

Yeah less portable, but only carrying for small periods at a time, not running a marathon with it in my backpack.

      • yeh my eyes usually start hurting after a few hours on the small 13" screen from squinting, unfair how we have to fork out way more for the 15inch

    • 15inch is better.

I have cheked OW, and cant find stock anywhere around Parramatta or surrounding suburbs. But will be available in stock from Monday.
Maybe they caught on early and OoS everything on their system to not have to price beat HN. Lol

    • +1

Call in and order over the phone for delivery as I did. I'm in NSW, and my delivery is expected to arrive on Monday

      • Thanks, did that and got one, and also delivery will be on Monday.
Now to wait until before my daughters school starts to see if I return and buy her an M4 or stick with this.
Anyone know how long the return period is for OW?

  • just ordered through Officeworks with pricebeat too. First operator I spoke with insisted she couldn't pricebeat on a clearance item. So I HUCA and got it at the lower price ($1793.60) with the second operator I spoke with.
