39"-44" 4k 100-144hz Gaming Monitor IPS Recommendations with Flexible Stand - Budget $1,400

TL;DR Looking for a 39"-44" 4k 100-144hz IPS (NO VA NO TN) with flexible stand (speakers not required) below $1400

My main monitor died or at least does not want to play nice anymore which was a 40 inch 4k 60hz monitor getting old for reference.

My desk can only fit up to 44 inch max comfortably but realistically anything above 39 inches would be a great fit to go with my secondary monitor which is the Philips 328P6V 32" 4K LCD Monitor $195 which is honestly one of the best budget 4k monitors I have used and am looking for just a bigger and higher refresh rate specced out monitor.

The big things or deal breakers I am looking for in my next monitor is a flexible stand something I can move vertically up and down easily and over 100hz refresh rate preferably 120-144hz but anything over 100hz would be buyable. Strong lean towards higher nits/brighter screens.

All that and over 39 inches and I will take a serious look at it.

Budget is below $1400 so nothing too crazy but honestly am just trying to find a good partner and equivalent counterpart to my $195 Philips 328P6V 32" 4K LCD Monitor.

I have been staring at this old Crossover 404K VA Panel monitor for over half a decade now and am ready to look at something a bit nicer so what is worth buying now out there?

Usage: Gaming, Movies, General Browsing

  • LG 42" OLED EVO C4 is $1,444 right now. You're not going to find a better gaming display for the money.

    • Forgot to add I am avoiding OLED for now.

Still not hundred percent happy with screen burn in.

Have it on my phone and it is not that bad but definitely noticeable.

IPS only for my next monitor buy.

But yeah it is tempting that screen looks really good but I leave my pc on sometimes with the monitor just idling on static images too often and there is no real lazy cure for screen burn in you need to have a video running or something to keep moving the pixels.

      • Been using a C2 and C3 now for years. Can't go back. It's really night and day the quality.

    • No vertical adjustment on the C4.. was going to suggest the 4k Alienware OLED but op has moved the goal posts again.

I have the original one and no signs of burn in

      • How many years of usage and roughly how many hours per day if you had to average it per day. For my use case I think I will have days where it will have a static image mainly the desktop for hours and hours either when I'm asleep or at work and too tired or just don't want to turn off my pc between sessions.

So if you can confidently say using the monitor like that for years won't result in any screen burn in then I'm sold I'll buy the monitor today.

        • I’ve had my Alienware OLED for 2.5 years now, 10+ hours a day for productivity work + gaming. I give zero sh*** about burn in mitigation and I have no signs of burn in whatsoever.

          • @jk82: I can't decide. A lot of people say their monitors are all good after heavy usage like yours but then I look at my phone and can see the burn in.

I know they are different technologies and panels probably phone vs monitor but I still feel a bit iffy.

But every review says how oled just has better picture quality which is huge in the deciding process.

That and I can't find any high refresh rate ips monitors around 40-42 inches.. I think I have to go oled just because the ips competition doesn't exist above 60hz.

            • +1

@AlienC: Just get one with a warranty on burn in then. Dell do 3 years. I think Samsung and MSI do too.

I couldn’t imagine dropping $1,400 on a monitor that isn’t OLED. The picture quality is phenomenal and leagues ahead of any IPS panel.

              • @jk82: sadly it looks like I will have to settle for VA again but at least 144hz and 43 inch 4k because I cannot even find an IPS 4k monitor above 38 inches with more than 60hz it's like it is impossible to make at that size or something.

Yeah OLED has got my head spinning all just because of burn in.

I really like IPS too but unless I find that unicorn might have to look at VA for another 5 years fml.

But at least it will be cheaper than $1400 so maybe the savings will compensate for that loss in everything else :(

  • I've been using a s95b for my desktop for 2 years 8 hours a day and no signs of burn in. Play dota and wfh. I wouldn't worry about it mate.

    • Oh man. My brain is telling me to revisit these anecdotes in another 2-3 years but my brain is also telling me just don't worry about it just accept the potential burn in but enjoy the better everything else.

What size is your s95b and refresh rate?

If its the 55 inch why I would love the bigger size i cannot fit that size monitor on my desk right now unless I do some serious bedroom renovations and moving around of heavy furniture.. ideally initially I was supposed to get an 85 inch TV as a monitor because I sit a bit back in an armchair.

But for right now I can maximally fit a 43 inch monitor really a 40 inch would be the most comfortable fitting but 42-43 is where a lot of monitors are at size wise for now.

  • EDIT: after a lot more research I am still on the fence on OLED.. feels like 50% chance of screen burn in and 50% chance of no screen burn in that picture quality does look amazing though but the ozbargainer in me wants to lean towards more cheaper options which means IPS and VA and I cannot find an IPS panel above 34 inches that has a refresh rate above 60hz so looks like VA is the only way to go because I ain't touching TN hell no
