Oh snap! thanks…
Ninja mod edit @RichardL
oh that's smooth, cheers @RichardL
@preginald: Starting to think @RichardL is an advanced AI. He’s just too quick!
https://amzn.asia/d/iyjXa31 This one is 31.99
Same or different? That is wired only.
Yeah, realized that after post
Cheaper because it's wired
That one is wired, OP has posted the wireless one
Worth upgrading from 8bitdo pro 2 ? Mainly for Nintendo switch, rare windows steam games
I don’t think this particular one works with Switch. Correct me if I’m wrong, this one only works for PC and Android (and some other linux / Android based handhelds too).
Ah yes it uses 2.4 to connect. Ok then pass. I like the colours..
it actually has both 2.4 GHz and Bluetooth
if it displays the white delivery fee, it is online only from jb hi fi keep that in mind
I am hoping for a sale on the 3-mode model. Apparently they improved on the ultimate in many areas and best for pc, android and iOS.
I've got the original hall effect + 2.4ghz ultimate and it's honestly amazing on PC. I did buy xbox-style buttons to replace the switch ones but honestly not a big deal. Don't have a switch anymore but it was one of the easier to pair third party controllers.
The dock is the real value-add.
These controllers are super confusing — this has Bluetooth but only for connecting to Android (or was this model recently updated to work with PC Bluetooth?)
But the other "Bluetooth" version is only compatible with the Switch and nothing elseFrustrating that there isn't just one controller that works for all
This doesn’t support Bluetooth.
From the 8BitDo website;
Connect to Android devices via Bluetooth and to Windows PCs via 2.4G or wired connection.
My understanding is these don't do XInput over Bluetooth, only DInput, hence the general incompatibility.
I don't have one to personally try, but you might have luck getting it to work on games with Steam Input or other XInput wrappers.
@auscompgeek: I have tried briefly to get this controller working over android on 2.4 with an adaptor it didnt connect
@auscompgeek: Just stumbled across a review that mentions exactly this: https://gbatemp.net/review/8bitdo-ultimate-2c-wireless-contr…
The L4/R4 buttons being reported as buttons seems rather interesting.
Yeah this has turned me off from buying a controller during this sale season. I just want to get the best allrounder that connects to everything.
I had the same frustrating realisation after getting the 2C. I then got a Gamesir Cyclone 2 which works great with everything, but it does cost quite a bit more.
Be very careful with these and compatibility. The naming scheme will blow your mind. One will be compatible with win and ps5, one will be compat with only win, one will only work with the switch and so on. I got the 8bitdo "Ultimate wireless 2.4ghz" it works with my PC and my nvidia shield via bluetooth. Cannot account for Xbox compatibility.
Will this work on Apple TV either straight with USB dongle or via Bluetooth?
Probably not because apple is ass.
Apple TV supports PS4, PS5, Xbox, Switch controllers.
What exactly about that compatiability is "ass"?
I was just saying apple is ass when it comes to gaming. If you do not agree that is fine.
I got the wired version of the Wukong one the last time it was posted, it took ages to arrive which is probably the first/only time I've had a massive delay on AliExpress. Not that big of a deal, but ymmv.
There are only two issues I've found so far with the controller itself. Ergonomically, I have smaller hands and I tend to prefer larger controllers. The Ultimate 2C controller feels much smaller in-hand compared to the DS4/DS5/360/Xbone controllers imo. I don't find it quite as uncomfortable as the DS1/2/3 controllers, but it could be better. Also, the extra buttons are in an extremely inconvenient spot for shooters which is where I get the most use out of them typically.
The only other issue is confusing compatibility. When I plug it in with nothing else but said applications running, it seems to show up as one Xinput device and two Ultimate 2C controllers in PCSX2 and Steam. In the Game Controllers window in Windows, it shows up as one Ultimate 2C controller. For games like Call of Duty, which I play on battle.net for reasons, I gotta have some kind of wrapper/translator for it to work, so I use Steam Input. Dunno why this is the case? Shouldn't it pick up the Xinput?
It'd be nice if the software they use for the controller let you pick which single mode (Dinput, Xinput, etc.) the controller is in. It seems like it's only used for firmware updates tho. Apparently you can pick which mode on the Wireless version? Dunno.
I have got this controller and the gamesir cyclone 2
2c has way better ABXY/DPAD overall good controller
gamesir cyclone 2 ABXY/DPAD remind me of old rubber buttons with a click feedback for tv remotes
I prefer back paddles over the the third button for L4/R4
unsure what ill end up using more the cyclone costs like $30-$40 more
I have both as well and prefer the Cyclone 2, mainly for the more traditional shape and additional Switch compatibility. The cyclone buttons I found weird at first but has definitely grown on me, I do like the more obvious feedback and it is easier to spam/mash. The 2c buttons are also good though.
Will this work on an Xbox One? (specifically a One S)
Tell em the price son
