Why. Do. I. Have. So. Many. Chargers. And. Still. Want. More.

  • @SmoothCactus I’ve come across a bunch of your comments lately when trying to find a good compact 100w charger. Any thoughts on this one? Thanks!

  • Does anyone know if it's better than this one? https://www.amazon.com.au/Anker-Charger-3-Port-MacBook-Galax…

    • looks gigantula

    • Anker one is smaller and 65W max vs 100W for the NOVOO. Though I don't know if I trust both of those max power stats.

    • First tier brand vs… third tier brand?

The third tier brand option will be a crapshoot.

    • The anker one will almost certainly not throttle as much than this Novoo 100w charger. If you are looking for extended charging times at full speed like a laptop rather than just quick charging a couple devices. There is also a 35$ ugreen one but i know that charger throttles to like 45w after 1-2 hours.

Wow this seems to be the smallest and cheapest 100w GAN charger

    • +1

That's not necessarily a great combination. I'd prefer confirmed good.

I have the 67W GAN one and it was not good. The two USB-C ports pooped out within a month. They stopped charging, or charged halfway and then simply stopped, even though I was only using one port rverytime. I had to use the MacBook 30W basic charger to charge my devices for the rest of my trip.

        • novoo 67W? Im praying mine will last now

  • +1

Novoo has generally reviewed well, with the exception of the 67W 2 port which thermal throttles in ~30 minutes. I would be concerned if this also applies to this model, it is significantly smaller/lighter than their 120W but also larger/heavier than their 67W.

  • I have the 67W Novoo charger (the one with the two USB-C ports and one USB-A port) and the two USB-C ports just stopped charging reliably. They either didn't charge, or charged and then stopped halfway. Never buying this brand again. I'm sticking with Ugreen and Anker for now.

  • I have enough chargers but why do I want it!!!!

  • I have the 67W version and becomes a hot potato very soon

Ooh cheap chinese jank. Perfect for people who don't need chargers, but still buy them.

Compact gan chargers often just get this hot. Its kinda normal due to efficiency power loss and small area to dissapate heat. The charger will usually throttle. However maybe the more expensive ones have better cooling (and are a bit bigger).

  • Might be a good pc handheld travel charger.

  • I'd prefer this one: https://www.amazon.com.au/dp/B09Z7RKSV2 for $43

    • Whys that?

      • A bit bigger so better thermals. Also I don't mind Heynix they seem fine but I'm keen to hear the comments pile on.

I may hold out for a 140w charger in a similar form factor. While charging usually maxes out at 100 Watts it's nice to have headroom.
