  • Is the credit enough to get a charger with?

    • +1

No. Cheapest at total tools is the clearance dcb115,

      https://www.totaltools.com.au/109869-dewalt-10-8-18v-battery…

      • -7

FYI these won't charge the 54V batteries, you need this one https://www.totaltools.com.au/110959-dewalt-xr-flexvolt-18v-…

        • +4

It will charge. Flexvolt battery is compatible with all 18V XR chargers.

          • -5

@z88713188: Check again mate, the battery connector for 18V doesn't work for something that is only design for 54V, while the 54V work both ways, i have a ton of dewalt tools.

Yes some of the 18V battery charges both 18V/54V but the above mention does not.
            even the description state it:

            "
            Description

            Charges DEWALT 10.8V, 14.4V, 18V XR Li-Ion batteries"

            • @theone4u: I have this charger, charges my 54v batteries perfectly fine. In fact it's recommended over the fast chargers.

            • +2

@theone4u: Dude, just stop spreading misinformation.

The FLEXVOLT batteries work as either 18V or 54V. They have this latch thing that on 54V tools presses in and causes all 3 rows parallel rows of cells to be connected in series. This is how they can be used for both 18V tools as well as 54V.

Any 18V DeWalt charger will charge these FLEXVOLT 18/54V batteries. Including the DCB115.

            • +1

@theone4u: Flexvolt is 18v but boosts to 54v when on a 54v tool. I have loads of the. And YES that charger will charge it.

        • +6

You are incorrect. All of the 18v chargers charge 54v batteries

        • +1

Yeah my 18v chargers work with my 54v batteries.

          • -4

@Souvis: not the one he mention, read the description

    • FYI chargers are around $50 on FB Marketplace.

      • -2

beware there is so many fakes out there that looks exactly. Unless they have a receipt I wouldnt bother

        • +2

That's why I buy a genuine charger so I have a receipt to use to sell with the fake charger

      • Id be more than happy with $50, seen lots around $30 but maybe theyre fakes? I ve got at least 4 new in boxes from kits or promos I've never bothered to list

        • They're only worth $30, I can barely sell them for that when I have leftovers from kits throughout the years.

    • Plenty on marketplace. I have probably 10 in the shed. I buy kits like this and sell the batteries. In this case for instance, the 360, minus the 50 credit is 310. These batteries go for 110 on marketplach so you're out of pocket $90 for the trimmer. Not a bad deal.

  • +1

This is a really good trimmer. I got one in a deal a few months ago and it beats all the trimmers I've used in the past. It's great that it's a hell of a lot quieter than previous petrol ones too.

    • Is it better than the Honda petrol trimmers ?

I need something that's good enough, to clear a lot of bush growth, and even better if it came with the attachments (hedge trimmer, etc.)

I almost got a Honda one, but been looking around.

( There are plenty of those "Honda clone" ones online )

      • +1

It's not nearly as grunty as a decent petrol trimmer. Probably takes twice as long to clear the same area using my 54v trimmer vs a Stihl FS85 which is only 28cc but I will use the dewalt for small quick jobs that are not too overgrown.

When you say "a lot of bush growth" a line trimmer wont work well on anything more than grass or soft weeds, youll need a metal cutting head of some sort for things like lantana

      • I wouldn't use it for bush growth, but it's perfect for a garden that gets neglected from time to time. Knee high grass and a few thick stemmed weeds are the worst it usually tackles and it handles those with ease.

  • Got one. Thanks OP! Have tons of dewalt tools already so why not add some more 😆

  • Anyone know if this is the one which you can change the end for the pole saw/hedge tool? Or is it a line trimmer only? Amazing price, I just need the hedge trimmer attachment much more than a line trimmer.

  • I've got a DeWalt XR Flex Volt 18v 64v 6.0ah battery and charger kit i purchased at bunnings 2 years ago for $189 in a deal that collected dust (charger and 2 batteries). Will those batteries work in this?

    • Yep, any 18v flexvolt battery will fit any 54v tool.
The newer flexvolt batteries have a yellow case and older ones have a black case but they will still work just the same.

      • Thanks, have purchased.

Any suggestions for a push mower that is dewalt and uses these batteries? 750m2 rental ive just moved into. Pretty basic block.

        • Any suggestions for a push mower that is dewalt

          Would also like to know

        • Dewalt mowers are generally terrible. I own mostly Dewalt tools but returned one of their mowers a couple of weeks back and got a Makita one instead. Makita are doing redemption deals atm where you get two extra 5ah batteries with their mowers too, so you can end up with 4 batteries straight off the bat (assuming you don't own any others).

          • @Hurg: Cheers. Which Makita model did you get, and any downsides?

            • @andresampras: I ended up getting this and have been happy with it: https://www.bunnings.com.au/makita-18vx2-brushless-lawn-mowe…

I have about an acre to mow so mostly use a ride-on, but I get my son to do around the trees with the push mower so I don't claw my face off when I go under them on the ride-on. This has done a good job with that, seemed to tackle knee-high grass without too much difficulty.

          • @Hurg: I had the old 18v x2 mower, that was pretty average. But recently got the new 54v self propelled mower and it's excellent!

            • @groook: Yeah, I imagine Flexvolt batteries would be a lot better. I found the XRs got super hot in the Dewalt mower, to the point where I thought it'd probably affect the lifespans of the batteries.

            • @groook: Do you mean Makita?

      • Flexvolt is such a good, consumer friendly idea. I wish Makita did the same with their 18V LXT/40V XGT systems.

  • +1

Is this one significantly better than the usual Ozito one and the Bosch green EasyGrassCut one?

    • +1

Yes by a long margin. These are equivalent to 2-stroke petrol ones.

      • Thanks, maybe time to upgrade my old and weak trimmer kit.

  • -1

Could someone give some thoughts on this Makita 4.0Ah Line Trimmer Kit DUR189RM which is also on sale as an alternative? It's not brushless and only comes with 1 battery, but Makita is usually considered a better brand.
    https://www.totaltools.com.au/126294-makita-18v-1-x-4-0ah-li…

  • Sensational price. The batteries are worth more by themselves

  • +2

Can't find any in store in Victoria and it says it wont ship either.

    • +1

Sadly my experience with Total Tools too.

  • -3

FYI, the cheapest charge you can get to charge the 54V are these https://www.totaltools.com.au/186062-dewalt-12-18v-xr-compac…

Before you neg me, do some research on the difference. I have these tools and have used it for over a decade.

    good buy

  • This or Ryobi 36V one?

    • Having had both, this

  • Was eyeing off line trimmers yesterday and considered this one but don't own any Flexvolts and didn't want to wait for Dewalt to send one out via redemption (from experience, their redemption via mail is sloooow). Glad I held off a day before purchasing anything. Being able to grab a battery at pickup make this a sweet deal.

    • I did a redemption a couple of weeks ago, got it in less than a week

      • dunno, maybe I just got unlucky.

        • Depends on stock and demand, I've had some in the past take a few weeks but lately they've been pretty quick

  • Oh so keen just for the batteries. I have a bunch of Dewalt gear including angle grinder and circ saw which require the 54V. Only one battery though, always changing battery over.

I have a powerful Husq whipper snipper so this is slightly unneeded. Would be great if they had a similar deal with lawn mower instead.

    • Hey I’m in exactly the opposite position, plenty of batteries but wanted the whipper snipper, was just going to sell the batteries on eBay but if you wanted to do a deal for the batteries let me know, I’ve ordered it already , cheers

  • How does this compare with Ryobi 36v series?

    • +1

Have had both, these are better. Not that the Ryobi is bad

  • anyone able to checkout with delivery in Sydney ?

  • +1

    Out of stock
Bit horrible that they dont have enough stock before boxing day

    • Guess they're not called total tools for nothing

  • Nearest stock 1000kms away. Yay!

  • Does anyone know how this compares to an Ego multihead trimmer? Wondering if it's time to change ecosystem…

  • +2

Not available for C&C or in-store anywhere in Sydney and not available for delivery. What's the point?

    • Same as Victoria. Must have a couple in Darwin or something.

  • +1

It seems the tools from Total Tools only deliver from store local to the area, so if your local store is out of stock no delivery for you

  • NOTHING IN VIC

  • Read some reviews that the line trimmer isn't very reliable

  • Out of stock for delivery. Deal expired.
