  • Shouldn't it be around $47.31 if you convert from Euro instead of GBP?

    • +1

If you have an AUS account you pay in AUD.

The playstation blog does not list australian prices.

      • Ah okay I wasn't aware of that. I assume the missus has bought me a Vita for Christmas (and I have a PS3) so I was looking into getting the PSN Plus. Seems like it's pretty good value for $52/year!

        • +3

          $52 a year is brilliant.

Also see if you can get some discounted PSN cards to sweeten the deal. I know Harvey Norman was doing 2x $20 cards for $30 not long ago, which brings down the price to $39.30 for a year.

        • Oh yeah that's a great idea - I'll keep an eye out, thanks!

        • were that iTunes cards or pen cards?

  • +1

Don't forget you can stack the subscription.

    • Do you mean that if I already have PS+ and buy this subscription, it will just extend my current subscription?

      • +2

Correct. I have recently done this.

        • Mate that's badass! I picked up my PS+ on the last ozbargain post/sale, lest to say it's given me many, many extra hours of playtime. I hardly have time to finish all the games before the next new set comes out every month.

        • -1

Yep it works. Renewal date Sept 2014. Party on dudes!

  • How often do PSN subscriptions go on special?

    • Not often, no where nearly as often as Xbox.

  • +2

If I get this I don't think I'll ever have to buy games for my ps3 ever again.

  • +1

    Nice deal!

FYI Games for January (same link as above)
    2nd January – Bioshock 2
2nd January – Guardians of Middle Earth
2nd January – Gotham City Imposters – Australia and Germany only
16th January – Jet Set Radio (PS Vita)
23rd January – Pinball Arcade (PS Vita)

    • These games are free? that's pretty awesome. I still can't shake that they took away the ability to run Linux on them without requesting comments from community or anything just to try avoid the whole hacking scene. Well it got hacked anyway… three times now…

      • +3

Yup, each month PS+ subscribers get about 2 PS3 games and 2 PS Vita games free per month that can be played for the life of the subscription.

If you sign up now the free games you will get access to are:
        PS3;
        - Big Sky Infinity
        - Batman: Arkham City
        - Vanquish
        - Resident Evil 5 (Gold Edition)
        - Limbo
        - Ratchet & Clank: All 4 One
        - CubixxHD
        - Bullet Storm
        - Little Big Planet 2
        - Motorstorm Apocalypse
        - inFAMOUS 2

        PSVita;
        - Big Sky Infinity
        - Uncharted: Golden Abyss
        - Chronovolt
        - Gravity Rush
        - Tales from Space: Mutant Blobs Attack

Games get removed from this list, so the sooner you sign up, the more games you will get :)

        • Do you need to download / install games before they are removed off the list in order to maintain the back catalogue of previously released titles.

        • No you just need to add them to your basket and follow that through the full “purchase” procedure, but you do not need to download them now.
Once you have “purchased” them, they will remain available to download for at any future time and play as long as you are still a PS+ member.

You can do all of this from on-line once signed in via here: https://store.sonyentertainmentnetwork.com/#!/en-au/home/gam…

        • Great - thanks - My Phat Ps3 is out of commissioning but wanted to jump on the wagon for the existing games before they drop off

  • PSN Plus doesn't include the music unlimited service does it ?

    • +1

nah, but if you have PSN plus it's only cost you $13.99/year to get 1.

  • +2

For those not familiar with what you get, here is my spreadsheet on all of the "free" games we have gotten since the Instant Game Collection started.
    https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AmRRDLosxQLIdGJ…

You will also see links on that to a Portuguese forum that lists everything, discounts, themes avatars, etc… since PS+ started.

  • I bought a years membership just 4 months ago, the last time a deal was on, and it was great value. I'm seriously considering extending by another year, even though I'm no where close to finishing my membership…

  • Alternatively, you can buy a $50 US PSN card from Amazon, and buy the US PSN+ and get discounts from the US store instead (which are already significantly cheaper than the AU store). The free games are different, but not worse or better.

The standard PSN+ 12 month (+3 free) subscription price on US store is cheaper than the discounted AU price.

    • 1: You don’t need a US PSN card to give credit to your US PSN account, you can use an Aus credit card.
I have successfully done this, and it was replicated by another, we did however both use Amex cards, so not sure if MC or Visa will also work, until someone tests it.

Sign into your US acc via https://account.sonyentertainmentnetwork.com/pc/login.action
Updated your “Location” details to Alaska, Delaware or New Hampshire as they have no sales tax.
      Go to billing:
      https://account.sonyentertainmentnetwork.com/cam/account/bil…
Select “Use My Residential Address”, entered card details and save.
Then go to add funds to wallet
      https://account.sonyentertainmentnetwork.com/cam/account/myw…

$5 was successfully added directly from from Aus CC. A Westpac based Amex card.
      $4.78 plus a $0.17 foreign transaction fee

2: See my spreadsheet listed above again, It shows both territories and their respective “free” games.
Aus (Euro) PS+ is far superior to US PS+ in regards to “free” games.
The US beat us hands down for discounts, so it is a matter of what is more important.
      https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AmRRDLosxQLIdGJ…

      • or just buy a $50 US card for $54 from http://www.thecardcloset.com/ then just redeem the code like i do.

        • +1

This is Ozbargain, you are throwing away $4.50.
          That is heresy around here.
By my method it costs you $49.50 and is instant once you have set your account up.

The Amazon method is also similar, you are only being charged USD $50.

        • I don't think it works for most credit cards but i'll have to try my visa again to be sure.

        • Amazon lets you buy them without the markup.

I've gotten some on ebay for less than $50 in fact even though usually they come with a markup.

        • Don't pay extra.
Please go to AMAZON and buy the Sony-Playstation-Network-Card-Online.
All you need is a random USA address as your billing address ,
you will receive your redeem code directly after checkout.

Haven't heard any AUS CC has problem with AMAZON.

        • Bugger….had completely forgotten about Amazon :(

      • I have successfully done this, and it was replicated by another, we did however both use Amex cards, so not sure if MC or Visa will also work, until someone tests it.

Didn't work on my Visa. Unless they changed that in the years since.

2: See my spreadsheet listed above again, It shows both territories and their respective “free” games.
Aus (Euro) PS+ is far superior to US PS+ in regards to “free” games.
The US beat us hands down for discounts, so it is a matter of what is more important.

This is quite debatable. Don't know about AU, but I remember recently the US store gave a boatload of free games in one month.

The important thing to remember though is that free games are only playable while still subscribed, while discounted games are yours to keep forever.

        • "Don't know about AU, but I remember recently the US store gave a boatload of free games in one month."

All of the info is there in one easy link.

Re free games vs discounts, exactly, and that is why I made that point that the US received far more discounts.

  • UK / EU deal is with Mortal Kombat - but Germany and Australia get Gotham City Imposters
    cause of it being RC

  • Hi snuke,

I am trying to sign up with the US PSN Account but already has some games purchased with AU PSN Account.
What happened to those purchases games that have been downloaded?
Will they remain in the system?

And thanks for the AMEX tricks, I was reluctant to go through the process of buying US PSN card.

    • Yes, they will remain on your console, but only show as owned/purchased from the original account you purchased it with.
You can download a game with your US acc, and play it on your Aus account and vice versa.
I downloaded Borderlands 2 from the Aus PSN store and also use it with one of our US accounts.
Games, videos, music, they show as accessible to all accounts on the same console.

      • Cool thanks for that!
I was told previously that if you change account than the game from the other account will be lost.

  • Cheers for the Post. Bought one for myself since every subscriber has positive things to say about it.
