Stolen Android Phone

Just got new android not g85 phone that was stolen, I have all security measures and passwords and face lock to prevent it others from having acess. Would the thief be able to factory reset my phone to sell or or bypass it? Been told I’m safe as long it is full password protected?

It will go into a box and get shipped overseas and it will be gutted for its parts and stripped of its gold.

The likelihood that you will get it back is almost zero because it is worthless to them other than its parts value or as a paperweight.

While they themselves may not be able to get into it, they won’t care. They will try a few times and fail. And when they are locked out completely, they will either fence it onto some other sucker or just bin it.

you are missing the biggest variable of the equation: which brand, what model?

generally speaking, unless there's some exploit (unlikely), you won't be able to unlock the phone and see its data.

You might able to bypass the bootloader and flash a new ROM on it (basically a more extreme version of factory reset), but this only works on very limited model, as you'll need to unlock the phone, go into developer mode, unlock bootloader (OEM unlocking), before you can use the bootloader to flash ROM…

TLDR is either they can't unlock it nor read its info and the phone is basically a brick, or they can full reset the phone and use it as a new device with all its data lost.

Tell us the password, so we can be sure you're safe.

Just use Find My Device feature to Locate your device, Lock your device, and/or Erase your device.

    You can also:
Check if your device is listed on Google Play
Check the last known location of your device in your Google Account
Remove access to your accounts from the device

All of the above should have been activated when you sign into a Google Account on any Android device …

  • If you're still using a physical sim then it can be a risk of being re used as noone locks their sim these days. You can stop this by using an esim.

    • Does esim have all the features of a physical sim?

  • The could also hold on to it until a smashed up cheap identical phone comes up, and then do a motherboard transplant from the smashed to your phone.

  • not again! oh well, just in time for the boxing day specials :)
