  • How much extra for data roaming?

    • +2

      Kogan Mobile International Roaming Packs

Likely cheaper to get local sim for 7 days +

        • If your local e-sim fails you’re buying the wrong one

        • any decent app doesn't fail to often, plus your never too far away from a prepaid sim while overseas.

  • +1

I'd switch in a flash if International calls weren't $5pm extra.

  • +11

Black Friday, couple of weeks ago was
    140GB $109
    300GB $159
    500GB $189

    • I'm hoping that these prices are back for Boxing Day or New Year. The only reason I did not buy the 140GB for $109 on Black Friday is because my current Catch Connect plan doesn't expire until end of Feb 2025.

      • +1

Apparently this is their boxing day sale price, so I doubt it's going to change.

        • Hopefully they offer it cheaper for New Years then. Worst case, my Catch Connect plan is $120 to recharge so that's my backup plan if a better deal doesn't come around in the next few weeks.

          • @D1977: Less data I think with a recharge…

            • @freeb1e4me: Yes but I don't need the data. I have the Catch Connect 60GB 365 day plan and am 10 months into it and still have 30GB data left. I would have had a lot more if I was not doing iOS updates and app updates via 4G instead of using my home wi-fi.

        • +2

I was holding out for a better deal like their previous 40% off or 2-for-1s … looking at those dates looks like I'm out of luck.l

      • +3

Kogan vouchers usually expire one month after purchasing. Gotta be super careful with anything Kogan.

  • +2

Tried Kogan Mobile for a bit, and Vodafone network was fine if you are mostly in metro areas. If you're doing any regional travel, it's a PITA. I regular had no coverage so switched to Boost and having a way better experience now on 6 year old Mi 9T pro.

    • +2

      Boost is full Telstra (wholesale)
      Aldi etc are not (retail)

      • +1

Don't get your point. I'm comparing Vodafone network to Telstra.

        • +3

Sorry, FYI for the yungins who don't know.

    • +4

Vodafone and Optus are sharing networks as of early 2025. Coverage is going to dramatically increased.

      • That's great news. Saw the announcement a while back but won't be switching until it's released properly

      • With voadfone sometimes i cant send text messages or only emergency calls come up

Never had that problem with boost.

Would the network share between voda and optus fix this problem?

        • Boost uses Telstra. Vodafone and Optus sharing still wont give you Telstra's amount of coverage but it sure comes much closer.

          • -1

@ashumz: Yes i wqs aware boost use full telstra network compared to other mvno

Gonna pay premium and switch back to boost. Terrible vod

    • Hi, I've got my Mi 9T pro and Mi 11T Pro. but couldn't use Boost after 3G network shutdown. Can yours work on Boost?

      • Mi 9T pro works fine on Boost network. There's no more 3G so I wouldn't be expecting 3G. For what it's worth I have a custom ROM (evolution X) so it might be imitating a Pixel.

      • Did you enable VolTE via keypad? Mine didn't work and had to manually do it and it worked.

    • +1

100% agree. I won't go back on the Vodafone network again, unless of course the service improves. Terrible service regionally, which gives you no sense of confidence if things go wrong on the road. Better to pay a bit more elsewhere.

  • Damn!! I literally bought the 500GB plan a week ago!

    • +1

Message them, they might help you out

    • +2

They sorted me out when the same thing happened to me a few weeks ago, totally fine with it.

      • +3

Thanks for your advice! I just gave them a call and they refunded me for the $300 one that I bought. The refund will come through in 7 days. And I bought the new one at $219!

        • +2

Perfect! They seem to have a good policy on this. Actually, I’ve always found their customer service to be great - fast and accommodating.

  • Does anyone know if they impose a limit on Upload speed?

  • Cant work out if the large has access to 5g any one know?
Also hows the latency/speed compared to boost ?

    • +4

None of these prepaid long expiry packs have access to 5G afaik

      • Thanks. No 5g no deal from me.

        • +2

Classic OzBargain downvoting me for stating facts

          • +1

@TheFreaK: Thanks for helping anyhow. Dont know why others would downvote you for stating facts 🤔

  • When are we going to start seeing higher 3-500GB per month plans because frankly it's too easy to burn through data with apps forcing 4k if they see you are on 5G, within the month.

The only way around it is to go onto an unlimited plan that caps your speed so the apps don't think you are on 5G.

  • +2

    "Prices have been cheaper"

    A LOT CHEAPER!

    I bought a 365 day 120Gb plan for $99.

  • Does anyone know if this works with a Redmi 13C after 3G shutdown?
I could find an IMEI checker for Telstra and Optus but unable to find one for Voda to be certain.
Also unable to use a $2 sim to test without buying an actual plan.

    • +1

Vodafone and Optus use very similar equipment, to the point where they will be sharing regional coverage in 2025.

If Optus works, so will Vodafone.

      • Cheers. Looks like it's whitelisted on Telstra but not on Optus so I might just give Voda a miss

    • +1

yeh my 13c won't play with Optus or Voda phone but works on Woolworths (Telstra network)…so annoying

  • 5G or 4G?

  • Could someone please confirm the 365 Days FLEX 140GB voucher code for $119 is definitely redeemable for existing customers? Can’t see anything in the t&c’s https://www.kogan.com/au/buy/kogan-mobile-prepaid-voucher-co…

OP @celerybirthdaycake where did you see “Kogan Mobile’s Boxing day promotional offer is valid for new and existing Kogan Mobile customers”. Thanks

    • +2

I bought it 2 days ago and used it to recharge my mum's account successfully.

      • +1

Great thanks heaps for confirming @joetrim 🙏

    • First sentence at the bottom of the page under Terms & Conditions.

  • The small 365 days no sim is being sold out….anyone tried to buy the package with sim and successfully extended using the voucher?

    • +2

Even though I was only renewing, I ordered the sim version and it worked. I usually get that one in case I need a spare for a faulty card or another deal.

  • Can you use kogan credit/gift cards to purchase this? I have amex offer of $10 credit for $50 spend, so if I buy a $50 kogan gift card first and then buy the sim card using that $50 credit and the remainder on another amex card with the offer, I can get $20 off?

Also, does anyone know if buying gift cards off of kogan will qualify for amex statement credits? Need to know this if it is to work

    • I dont think Kogan giftcard on their purchase works on Kogan portal any more.

Normal Kogan credit/giftcard tested to befine, with the exception that some credit say from FIRST giveaway credit (those $5 for $10 dollar credit with min 100 spending) cannot be applying the same time from my another purchase I learnt my lession…

    • I successfully purchased the giftcard and suubswquently the sim card with this method and have received the 2 x $10 statement credits from amex already, so it cost me $99 in total. Shame I didn't see the bit about the APPLOVE to save another $5

  • +4

Remember to purchase via the Kogan app and use APPLOVE whilst logged in to save an extra $5. The small $119 plan "No SIM" option isn't available anymore, but I ended up adding the "SIM" version to cart and then removed the physical SIM and was able to checkout. Funky but it seemed to work out and I just received my voucher code 8 minutes after purchase. A bit of a bummer they increased the price by $15 compared to last year's $100 small deal but anyway

  • +1

Even though it was supposed to expire last night, Kogan have extended their Boxing Day Sale and looks like the SMALL 140GB is still available for $119.

Also, the No Sim option appears to be available again.

"Voucher must be purchased by 11:59PM AEDT on 26/01/2025. Voucher expires at 11:59PM AEDT on 31/03/2025."

    • Says 11:59PM AEDT on 27/01/2025 for me. I’ve been getting page not found error when I tried to check out. Tried it on the app, phone browser and PC browser. Anyway got a similar issue?

  • Can we receive text messages while overseas without intl roaming ?

    • Yes though sometimes there were delays

      • Thanks, how long were the delays you experienced?

        • Ranging from minutes to a day sometimes.

  • +1

Does this deal not give a new number if thats what you are after?

    • +1

You can bring over your existing number if that's what you're asking.

  • Does anyone know where or how to enter the APPLOVE promo code? I can't seem to find the promo code field.

  • Just wondering if people are receiving their SIM cards no dramas,?
    Ordered on 07 Jan.
Kogan marked Despatched on 08 Jan.
Today is 19 Jan, SIM still haven't turned up.
Messaged them on their contact page and had no response yet.
Did receive the promo voucher code in a separate email on 07 Jan. No sim yet.
