What Are The Best OzBargain-Certified TVs These Days? (Main Use: Footy & Movies)

Hey everyone, I’m on the hunt for a new TV and figured the OzBargain community would know best.

Looking for a TV that’s great for watching footy (fast motion, smooth picture) and movies (good colours and contrast).

What are the current OzBargain-certified favourites in terms of price-to-performance? Any solid deals or models you’d recommend? Ideally, something that’s been tried and tested by fellow OzBargainers.

Appreciate any tips or links to bargains! Cheers!

Edit: ChatGPT has advised 65" is the best size for moi!

    LG C4

  • TCL C745, C845, C855 for something decent

    TCL 655 for everything else.

LG OLED if you have money to burn

    • Thanks legend. When did TCL become a TV super power? (I have noticed these popping up and being mentioned in the comments recently).
Also can I ask what exactly are so good about them now?

Previously Ive only ever purchased Samsung, Hisense and LG.

      • Yeah they sorted out their R&D ~2019 and since then have been making great value sets. LG & Samsung's picture processing is slightly better but you'll be paying 30% more for equivalent specs.

      • We have a TCL in our bedroom. No complaints.
Replaced the Bauhn unit from Aldi, which Aldi /Tempo gave us a credit on after they required pix of the severed power cable.

One the credit was received, i opened it up and soldered the original cable back. Its now outside, and is still slow, unreliable and the remote is crap.

      • When this happened, Samsung sold their panel making business to TCL, who in turn now supply most of the panels to Samsung.

Somebody pass me the crystal ball or a magnifying glass so I can find the budget I missed on this post.

Based on the budget and screen size you listed this>

  • Knowing precisely what they mean can get confusing, but this comparison site seems thorough: https://www.rtings.com/tv

  • LG C4 - spent the $ - it's worth it.

    • Thanks Sal! What is so good about it for you?

      • Bach in TA
  • "fast motion, smooth picture"
Oooh, plasma. Just won't be new or 65"
    .

    • He needs that 43 inch Sony CRT.

      • That would weigh quite a bit.
I remember some of the 28" CRT'S being 20-30kgs, especially Sony, Panasonic and Toshiba.
Then there were the Philips 43" Rear Projection units (and 50?) Definitily a 2 person job.

  • The Hisense U7N is a very good choice according to reviews.
