        Thanks. I finished a Bowmore 12 not long ago and that was a little smokey and I enjoyed it.

        Have a bottle of Laphroig that isn’t getting much action here, though!

        Ordered the Talisker and will keep the order. Was considering of cancelling in case too smokey but hopefully in my palette range.

          Glenlivet for $65 is smooth and approachable with a gentle warmth & subtle flavours..

          I do like some smoke in my whisky. Laphroiag 10yo is not my style at all. Smells and tastes like burnt coir rope.

          Talisker 10 may be stretching your palate a bit - but I think that it is a wonderfully balanced whisky. The smoke/peat doesn't jar.

          If that proves a bridge too far, I'd try Highland Park 12yo where the smoke/peat is quite subtle. Often available at decent prices too.

      I like peated whiskies but not a fan of Talisker because it has some ocean saltiness to it . Still end up buying 1 🤦

      This is a good introduction to a coastal malt which I would personally prefer.

      If you're not sure, like I mentioned here Glenlivet for $65 is smooth and approachable with a gentle warmth & subtle flavours. I would say it has a more general appeal for having it neat or mixed.

      The Talisker 10 would be great if you're looking to explore different whisky flavour profiles, or prefer more complex & full flavours..
