PlayStation VR2 $499 Delivered Only @ Target (Online Only)

350

ATL as far as I can see it.

Those who missed out on yesterday's sale on Amazon might be interested.

Ordered it yesterday from Target and was ready for them to cancel it as there is no stock in any of their stores according to their website. This morning received a notification from AusPost about the delivery.

So looks like there is enough stock but online only and it won't show the stock on their website.

Loads of great PSVR2 games are currently on sale for excellent prices on the PS Store which lines up pretty nicely with this great deal.

Can you recommend a few? I have always read mixed reviews about VR games. But want to give it a try as this is my first VR headset and decide for myself lol.

Absolutely! Had my headset since launch so I have had plenty of time to try a few so here are a few standouts that are currently cheap. Most these are even cheaper if you have PS+, but I don't so I just added the standard discount price instead.

Resident Evil Village $21.98 - Easily one of the greatest VR experiences out there
Walkabout Minigolf $13.77 - Excellent minigolf game that is endless fun to play online with others
Propagation Paradise Hotel $14.97 - Really good but a little short
Fisherman's Tales 1 & 2 bundle $17.98 - Absolute bargain for two really great games with some neat level designs
Paint The Town Red VR $14.97 - Really fun brawling game with entertaining physics and voxel art gore
Swordsman VR $17.51 - Fun physics based sword game
Garden of the Sea $14.37 - I really enjoyed this one. Great if you are into cozy games
Pistol Whip $29.21 - I was reluctant to add this since the price is a bit high, but it is still an amazing game and apparently the price is an ATL
Among Us VR $8.97 - Plenty of fun if you have friends or can find a group to play with, public lobbies are like spending time at a daycare

I bought these from the sale but can't say if they are worth it yet as I haven't played them:
Jurassic World Aftermath $8.99 - For that price its hard to say no to giving it a try. Looks pretty decent from what I have seen
Border Bots VR $14.97 - Similar to Papers Please but with robots. Got pretty good reviews when it released so I am looking forward to trying it
Arcade Paradise VR $14.97 - Apparently a really fun arcade management game. Looks like a good time

Plenty of other great games on sale too but I tried to keep it around the sort of price range that I see and think that it is a bargain.

If you have PS Plus Deluxe, you've already got a small library of VR games to play.

        Synth Riders
        Humanity
Ghostbusters: Rise of the Ghost Lord
        Before Your Eyes
        Walkabout Mini Golf VR
The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners
The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners Chapter 2: Retribution
        Kayak VR: Mirage
        Job Simulator

And this month we got Star Wars Tales from Galaxies Edge.

You forgot Synapse, The Last Clockwinder and Pistol Whip

  • +2

Still feels overpriced IMO based on the rather small library of games.

Sounds like Sony is shifting its focus away from it.

    • +2

Certainly wouldn't say the library is small, I have had mine since launch and I am still overwhelmed with the amount of games I have on my watchlist that I want to try out. That article is from 9 months ago and since then, Sony seem to have been pushing the headset way more, with all these price drops and way more marketing all of a sudden, I don't think that article holds up very well at all. It was certainly very disappointing to see that whole first year where Sony practically acted like the headset didn't exist and did nothing to push it out, but it is looking like they might have shifted their priorities as of late.

      • -1

True the article is old, but between March 2024 and today there have only been 2 PSVR2 exclusive games launched (happy to be corrected but these two also appear to be the only exclusive games launched in all of 2024).

        • Apollo 13: The Lost Tapes VR
        • My First Gran Turismo (a f2p game)

Many of the other games can be played with a Q2/3, which makes it a hard sell to buy another VR headset, assuming you already have these, which is likely if you are already into VR gaming).

I would have probably got one if they allowed backwards compatibility with games like Astro Bot VR though. Missed opportunity.

Sony seem to have been pushing the headset way more, with all these price drops and way more marketing all of a sudden

I read it as the price cuts having less to do with promoting it, and more to do with stock not being shifted fast enough and Sony quietly killing it sooner than expected. Time will tell.

        • +2

Yeah, I wouldn't suggest going into it expecting a ton of exclusive titles, Sony has been absolutely horrible at even releasing any good PS5 exclusives the last few years let alone PSVR2 exclusives. There are still a ton of fun VR games available on the platform and for anyone who already has a PS5 and wants to try out VR, this is a great way to get into it and get a really good experience for a reasonable price. Most VR titles are going to give you a better experience played on PSVR2 compared to either Quest 2 or 3, unless you are tethered to a PC, so the quest and PSVR2 platforms aren't really in much of the same league there.

It would seem odd for them to all of a sudden be pushing a bunch of marketing around the platform if they were only interested in shifting stock to kill it, price cuts on their own would be more likely to point to this.

and they finally did it :D finally under 500 next yera it will be under 400 at 399 :D

  • don't for get guys if you want this for PC as well you need to have the PC adapter which is another 90 bucks unless you get it on sale.

    • did not realise how (profanity) hard it is to get one of these things shipped.

      • interesting are the adapters still hard to get? i thought the stock levels would have increased by now. I bought mine on release day.

        • EB was showing as out of stock and JB won't deliver to me for some reason.
