have Merrell been bought by some chinese company (and they able to retain the brand name)? i noticed in the last year or so the quality is so so - used to be very good.

I bought a pair of Merrell sneakers a few months ago and one shoelace has already snapped after being used about 20 times. The shoes themselves are great, but a pain about the shoelace.,
