    That’s a lot of game for $19.

  • 'tis the season to be Arthur

  • +9

Matching JB Hi-Fi if you prefer, also part of the 2 for $30 deal.

  • +12

But Red Dead Redemption 2, that is not a game
It's an incredible journey through old American history

    • Reckon require to play prior games in the series prior to this?

      • +5

        No, RDR2 is a prequel story-wise to RDR1.

We don't talk about Red Dead Revolver.

        • +1

          Thanks
          Grabbed a copy

We don't talk about Red Dead Revolver

Funny I have this disc in my ps2 collection

      • +4

        Nope. Can just play this

      • +2

No, but you'll miss out on a lot of aha! moments, added context and filling in the story. If you're very story-focused. Else fine as a standalone game.

      • +2

If you wanna experience the same release order then, yeah. Not a must tho.

If I had to choose what the greatest game ever made is, it probably would be this

    • Fightin for your life and fightin for your family
Tryin to live your life with honour and integrity

  • One game I enjoyed playing but would never play again. It's such a long game.

    • +3

I've always wanted to do a low-honour run given I was purely a goody good shoes the first time I played, but I can't bring myself to do it 😆

      • +3

I tried to be good as well but then I accidentally shot someone and there was no going back :D

  • +3

    how I wish they'd re-release this on PS5

    • +2

But then it won't be $19

    • +2

      I daresay it'll get a PS5 port soon.
Hell, judging by the way Rockstar have treated GTA 5, you could probably bet on a PS6 port.

      • Even my old computer has a PS/2 port

    • I just played this on PC using 34" wide screen (3440x1440) with Ultra settings, and my god it looks stunning.
It's the perfect game for wide screen gaming.

  • +4

I really tried to get into this, gave it 3 different cracks across the years. Just found it so boring. The scenery was amazing, though.

    • +1

Scenary isn't that great as it's not a high resolution, and 30fps.

Uncharted 4 is better for scenery

      • +6

Beg to differ. Uncharted 4 was great but RDR2 is next level with lighting and detail. Plus RDR2 is open world, which imposes more technical challenges which makes the game even more impressive.

        • Are you playing on PlayStation or PC?

On ps5 the brightness and contrast seems messed up - can't get it to look "omg so nice" like uncharted.

    • +1

You don't like being forced to walk through towns? 🤢

    • Agreed. This and Witcher 3. I tried so hard to like both games but I just couldn't get into them.

    • Same.. I bought it few weeks after it was released. The game was not bad but it just wasnt for me (go bored). So I finished the main storyline as soon as I could and then sold the physical copy of the game.

  • +5

If you have no friends to play poker with, you can play poker in this game.

  • +1

This game runs at 30fps on PS5. It also has insane input delay when shooting.

  • Will it work on the Ps5?

    • +1

No, smoke will come out of your PS5.

Only kidding, but have a look at the comment above your comment.

      • Apparently, it's back to let the smoke out.

  • +4

Epic game. Story, gameplay, visuals, open world, characters - everything is brilliant.

  • +1

4K native and stunning on the Xbox version, if you have the choice. Still stuck at 30fps though, criminal that Rockstar game left it in this state.

Game was a real experience for me, loved it and will do another playthrough in the future.

  • +2

    Literally:
    that's a good BOIYH
    what're we doin' DUTCH
we just need ONE more score

    The game.

    It's good though.

  • +2

    LENNY!!!

  • +1

Spend a bit extra and buy it on PC its worth it for the uncapped frame rate.

    • +1

Finished it on the PC. Gazillions hours spent methinks. Now mulling getting this to play when lounging around.

  • +5

absolutely one of the greatest story games I have ever played, definitely in my top 10 of all time. And considering I dont even like western/cowboy themes, at all, should say a lot.
Stands tall next to, if not above the Mass Effect trilogy, uncharted, tomb raider, the last of us and Cyberpunk 2077 (post Phantom liberty update) imo.
    worth 10x the price.

    • Wow That much praise!

Would it come close to the bigger Zelda games or Final Fantasy games in terms polish? (With this being a western developed game) or the GOW/ TLOU?

      • Equals or surpasses them, with the possible subjective exception of TLOU (masterpiece).

        • Part 1 or 2?

          I heard 2 is terrible

          • +2

@smartProverble: I loved both very much on PS4
Part 2 was superbly more emotional and tactical IMO

I can’t bring myself to replay the PS5 versions for both 1&2 though. I’ve played them enough on PS4. The PS5 versions feel unnecessary after playing them lots on PS4.

While those games are all absolutely amazing in their own rights, RDR2 isnt just polished. Its a masterpiece.
Every aspect is masterfully done, everything has a realistic feel down to the finest details, as someone that grew up with horses, their mannerisms are bang on, even the horses testicles shrink in cold weather.
I have a really short attention span so it's very rare that I ever finish a game, and I haven't finished any of those games you mentioned, even though I liked them all, a lot.
But this one, I actually played to the end and glad I did, the ending left me in an emotional mess, a testament to the superb story writing, character modeling and voice acting.

I regret initially writing off because I dont like westerns, but I am glad I came across a cracked copy on fitgirl and gave it a try. I was truly blown away so I immediately purchased a legit copy to get the full experience. If not for that I would have for sure missed one the best in gaming history.
It definitely has the rockstar signature vibe to it, so if you liked GTA 4 and 5, this has a similar feel, but with everything dialed up to 100. bigger, better everything greater attention to detail.

        • Thanks for this!
          I’m super hyped now!

I thought the horse animation is top notch and naturally fluid as well in shadow of the colossus on ps2/ ps4. I’ve yet to see anything better in terms of horses.

I’ll be looking forward to playing RDR2 soon.

        • Great comments and I agree completely.
Rockstar Games and its staff should be extremely proud of their achievement on this game. It really is a masterpiece.
The first time I played through, some years ago, I was devastated with Arthur's plight, especially at the hands of that shitbag Mica.
As it so happens I just finished playing through again to that point last night, and that same shitbag got Arthur (me) again :D
I originally played RDR2 on PS4 but this time I was absolutely treated by a 3440x1440, Ultra settings, PC experience and I wholly recommend this.

Who else has Unshaken by D'angelo in their music library because of this game?

    • +1

I literally looked for that tune afterwards. The way it just perfectly melted into the scene with those low vocal tones and harmonies!!!

  • Wow, what a deal! Even used this game usually goes for about $25. For new that's a steal.
I have a sibling that was wanting this one, looks like another Christmas present is in order 😁
