Will Porting out My Number Stop Auto Recharge?

So I'm currently with Vodafone and I'm planning on porting out to Everyday Mobile. I don't remember my account pin which is required to turn off auto-recharge in the app and I don't have the time to go to a store to do it in-person as it's recharging tomorrow. Talking via chat is getting nowhere with the CS rep replying to me every 10 minutes with 1-2 lines, and my phone call is getting nowhere.

If I port out my number to Woolies or any other carrier, will it just automatically stop the auto-recharge from Vodafone? Don't want to port out only to find out that i'm still getting charged $30 by Vodafone.

      No.

You needed to have ported out earlier before the auto recharge was due.

  • I think the auto recharge will go thru because porting takes some time

    • Porting usually only takes a few minutes

      • Not always

      • I got caught up in a porting nightmare that took weeks to resolve. If everything goes right it might take minutes but I wouldn’t guarantee it will happen.

  • Probably your best bet is a Vodaphone store. You have left it a tad late in the day. The first thing I do with a new plan is remove the auto recharge. Make them work for a renewal.

for a guy whose username is clockwerk , he is tad late

  • OP, did you avoid an automatic recharge?

  • Thanks for your reply everyone. I bought the e-sim plan, ported out and it only took like 30 minutes in total. I didn't get charged by Vodafone. Honestly, I should've left Vodafone earlier, I just couldn't be bothered to do the porting process.

    • Glad it worked out for you.
