Will we see the cost of AM5 Mini-ITX motherboards reduce in Australia next year? The ASRock A620I Lightning looks like a decent board for a budget Mini-ITX build but it's way overpriced compared to the US right now - it's $130USD at the time of posting compared to ~$320AUD.

Are you actually going for an SFF build?
I'm a fan of mATX and some of the smaller PC cases.
Yeah I'd like a really portable PC so I can easily move between my desk and my lounge.
I like the look of the Lian Li A3-mATX case but 26 litres is still pretty big. You have any other suggestions for solid small mATX chassis?I ended up with a NR400 (40L) because I wanted HDDs.. I was also looking at the sama im01 which is 22L and supports mATX boards.
I was looking at Metalfish cases and they be might be an option for cheaper ITX cases.
Optimum on youtube is a PC enthusiast with interests in SFF and cars/racing sims. He reviews a lot of SFF cases but they are mostly on the expensive side.
I just built in a Jonsbo z20. a ~20L case that fits an mATX motherboard. Very good and easy case to build in. Also comes with a handle for portability.
Only drawback is it has a glass side panel.I found this thread on reddit of sff matx cases as at May 2024. https://www.reddit.com/r/sffpc/comments/1cwvvdb/matx_small_f…
You can do more research into sandwich style cases with flex PSUs. These are smaller in volume but can be expensive.
I just received a Shinysnake G300, 16.8L mATX, 4 slot gpu, big tower cooler and atx psu support. Was about $150-160 landed from taobao/superbuy.
Don't see itx motherboards getting any cheaper, you can get pretty solid AM5 mATX boards for $300 but that's where mITX starts unless you're looking at the jginyue or maxsun boards.
AMD's 800 series chipsets come out early in the new year. But there doesn't seem to much hope that they'll lower prices or improve features. The 620 chipset already does more than its 800 series equivalent, the 840.
AM5 motherboards have pretty much stabilised in price. The only hope is that with the 800 series out, they'll sell off previous generation 600 series motherboards at bargain prices.
I wanted an AM5 ITX. Given how much more I would have had to pay for that, I settled for a $158 ASUS A629M-AYW.
