Dash Cam for Work Vehicle

Hi OzBargain, I want to install a dash cam in my work vehicle, a Toyota Hiace.

Do you have any recommendations for one that has decent image quality when reviewing?

We never really use the vehicle at night, so that's not so important. Crash detection and parking mode also is a must. There are a million recommendations on google for most brands, but I want to see what the real-life usage is like when it matters during an accident.

Perhaps the reason why there's a million recommendations is that they all do pretty much the same thing, just a little differently?

    • Im just going along the assumption of something similar to CCTV cameras. They are very different from each other in terms of practical performance and usability.

    Budget?

    • Around $1000. If justified, happy to spend more.

  • Try watching some videos. Maybe this one?

  • I’ve been happy with the Viofo A119, but think it’s up to A13X now

  • If it is a work vehicle, maybe consider a Dash Cam also with GPS.

  • Viofo A229 Plus.

  • Does your employer have a fleet of vehicles? Why are you fitting your vehicle's dash cam and not your employer (assuming you're not self-employed)? Are you interested in GPS tracking at all? Either for security, taxes, etc. Are you interested in 4G and/or WiFi for backing up footage?

Without knowing the above, my recommendation is the VIOFO A229 Duo. It meets the needs you outlined in your post, Sony Starvis 2 sensor, very well-respected brand.

    • Im self-employed. I also have a chipolo tracker so I can find the vehicle.
