Best Standing desk <$1000

I am looking for a standing desk that is sturdy and is 150x75 roughly. But I'm seeing quite a large range. The lazy maisons is around the $400 mark, but desky and omnidesk is around the $800-$1000 mark. There is also the option of getting a frame from Amazon and the desktop separately. This option is cheaper but I'm terrible with any handy work. And I think I'll spend way too long setting it up.

Sturdiness is quite important to me as the IKEA (manual standing) desk that I had was a nightmare at it's highest point. And if it's relevant I'm 192cm. Which desk would be the best. Oh and the little wing looking thing on the lazy maisons is ugly imo, but maybe you don't notice it when it's set up?

TLDR: what's ozbs best standing sturdy desk in the 150x75 range.

Ikea Idasen range and it’s not even close. I was in the market for a sturdy standing desk and this was the best.

    • I second this. Idasen is so sturdy and built like a tank.
It has gone up by $200ish in the last few years but still well worth the money.

      • Worth mentioning it only supports a paltry 75kg, fine for some, but not good for others.

The best standing desk is probably none.

Both sitting for long periods or standing for long periods is bad for your health. What is best for your health is regular activity.

Standing desks suck. The early research was flawed and overly optimistic. It's now well known that standing still for hours is no good for you. In the long-term it can lead to problems like varicose veins, blood clots and low blood pressure. Also, depending on your weight/strength, it might cause joint (knee, hip, back) pain, potentially leading to arthritis in the long term.

If you're going to use a standing desk, I would make sure you go up and down (between sitting and standing) as frequently as possible, and take frequent proper breaks. Personally, I prefer to sit, and break it up by walking/exercising as often as possible in between bouts of sitting.

  • It wouldn't surprise me if sitting just correlates with less movement, so changing from stationary sitting to stationary standing only minimally improves your overall movement level.

  • I got a flexispot frame and put timber slab from bunnings on top. Quite happy with it

  • Are you planning on using it outside?

Flexispot e7 pro. Bought the Bamboo tabletop with white Semi C Leg frame. They claim it has a load bearing capacity of up to 199kg.
It's a very sturdy desk and cost me only $530 delivered. I checked out all the Ikea desks (Idasen / Mittzon etc) and still found flexispot more superior and much better value.

Idasen is more sturdy and superior than the Mittzon but you are limited on Tabletop size options
The Mittzon comes with multiple options of tabletop size but it is inferior than both the Idasen and Flexispot desks.

I found the Flexispot e7 pro desk the best option because the Idasen desk was too large for my area.
