As a fan of WLtoys, I'm thrilled that they finally released their 6-channel flybarless micro helicopter! At the price of $94.15, it seems like a great deal. If you use the coupon code you'll get a 6% discount, which means the Ready-To-Fly package is only $88.50!

This 6-channel helicopter capable of 3D flight should be a nice upgrade from 4-channel fixed pitch helicopters (e.g. WLtoys V911) or 4-channel quads (e.g. V939 and V949).

The helicopter shares many components with HiSKY FBL100, which also seemed like a fun 3D micro helicopter. For discussions on WLtoys V922, visit the "Micro Helis" forum at RCgroups.com.

  • Any coupons for the WLtoys V911 2.4GHz 4CH Gyro Remote Control RC Helicopter Mode 2 New Plug Version ?

    • Not sure about that. I've stopped flying such helicopters. :)

This 6-channel helicopter capable of 3D flight

My 4-channel is capable of 3D flight too. What are the extra 2 channels for?

    • Can ur 4 channel flip n fly upside down?

    • 3D Flight and Normal Flight

    • It was my mistake to state "3D" flight as it makes no sense to a layman. Perhaps I should have stated "stunt" or "acrobatic" flight instead.

In a nutshell, the pitch of the main rotor blades is variable, unlike fixed-pitch helicopters. The ability to change pitch allows the helicopter to be more responsive and agile, as well as able to execute acrobatic moves. Inverted flight is one of them. You could search for such videos to understand 3D flight better.

The additional 2 channels are for pitch and gyro gain. Gyro gain can be changed between normal flight and 3D flight (erm, I meant stunt mode).

As this helicopter seems to be for a beginner/intermediate flyer - most configurations are not configurable - you need not worry about the throttle and pitch curves, gyro gain, and expo; but concentrate on flying.

OK, basically interested in the V911.

Which mode do we use in Australia ? Mode 1 or Mode 2
Which one is better for beginner ?

OK, I just found out that Mode 2 has throttle on left. And cyclics on right.
Also, my understanding is that you need a more precise/delicate movement of the hand for cyclic (aileron and elevator) movements. I am right handed and have more precise control over right hand. I wont be flying with any clubs any time soon.

So it appears its Mode 2 for me (throttle on left)

Question about transmitter: It appears that the transmitter for V911 doesn't come with a screen on it.
Is it a good idea to get a transmitter with screen ?

    • You would get better responses to your V911 queries if you had posted them in V911 threads.

Just to be on topic, the V922 transmitter supports Modes 1 and 2.

  • Saw one on Letterman show that had a simple two wire cage around it. Stopped the helicopter itself from crashing and makes sure helicopter always lands right way up.
