This is the smallest you can get for a travel charger, partly because the power cord is a normal cable and not permanently connected.

As for the charger itself, it doesn't do PPS at all, so you can't do super fast charging on a samsung. It does say it does in this description though so hrm? Maybe I'm wrong. But the power draw is split over the ports well to charge odd bits

Is it a figure 8 cord?

      • +2

        it is

      • +2

        more specifically IEC-60320-C7

fun fact - also referred to as the "infinity" or "shotgun" connector

How would one use this for international travel? Do you buy the power cable seperate?

          • @Hjshakenwin: Yep! Just buy the relevant cable

          • @Hjshakenwin: If you've got some grey import from Kogan etc then you might end up with a few international cables.

    • The website (if I have the right item) does list PPS support

Personally would go for the 65W ugreen charger over this.

    • If you don't need 65W charging the Anker is a better form factor for travelling

      • Actually, the Anker is larger and the form factor is equivalent to the Ugreen
        Anker = 9.0 x 8.6 x 2,0
        Ugreen = 7.5 x 7.1 x 2.9
        Anker is 136g
        Ugreen is 185g
Both use Figure 8 power cables = interchangable for country wall adaptors
        Anker has horizontal ports
Ugreen has vertical ports = probably better if you want to stand the hub vertical (less table space).
When travelling the length of your figure 8 cable will be a weight factor.
Bottomline, both are very good and well trusted devices, personally I've used the Ugreen device for nearly 18 months and it has been flawless.

  • Have been using this for just over 2 years now - does what it says it will do. No overheating issues thus far if anyone is wondering.

  • +2

Consider this UGREEN if you want something more modern and with 65W output, it is thicker and heavier though.

    • +1

Am I wrong in reading that the Anker one can charge a device at 45W vs the UGREEN max charge of a device is 30W?
EDIT: Yes…I am wrong. I see the power output information on the UGREEN page now. It does a full 65W if a single device is plug into the relevant USB-C port

    • chonky makes it a worse travel charger really

Love this, bought two. One for desktop, one for traveling.

To me when travelling it’s good enough leave it overnight charging Apple Watch, iPad, camera batteries, powerbank and sometimes the M1 MacBook which is slow but fine, all at the same time.

  • +1

Yeah, I use this as my every night charger and travels with me when needed.

  • I’ve had one for about a year now. Use it on the desktop and for travelling. More than happy with it

  • The USB-A port will give you less than 15w, probably more like 12w, slow charge from USB-A port

    • That may be true, but it’s most likely a limitation of usb-A. Some companies have pushed it higher but it’s not the official standard.

      • Thats not true, theres other chargers with USB-A that does 18W.

        • +1

That seems to be a Qualcomm thing:

Traditionally USB-A was limited to 12 watts (5 volts, 2.4 amps) of power. Now with Qualcomm® Quick Charge™ technology USB-A can deliver power up to 18 watts.

          • +1

@WhyAmICommenting: Yeah but that's fairly standard now. Most USB-A charger that comes with phones are 18W

  • +1

Great charger, esp for travel because of how flat it is

    • Indeed, the form factor is the only edge it has over the competition

  • Great form factor, poor power output, went with the 65w UGreen which is very compact. Only benefit to Anker one is if you want to carry one in the side pocket of a laptop sleeve its very thin.
