Corelle is the best. Consider them to be BIFL - I have the frost set but they are getting more expensive as time goes on…

Used these since my childhood and never understood why mum liked them. Now as a parent I do!
Interesting to find out recently that Corelle make Gorilla Glass - so they went up even higher in my books.
Why do people like these? Hard to break?
chip-resistant. will break if dropped from a height with food in it onto tiles. But less likely to.
friends bought us (I'm assuming) expensive Maxwell and Williams bowls and the top edges chipped when either washing or stacking and knocking the bottom of one on the top of another.
can also microwave the heck out of it. Anyways that's just my opinion and experience.
ADDIT: con is when it breaks it shatters into lots of shards, instead of several big pieces.
Do they get crazy hot when you microwave?
@socheap: yes. like Pyrex.
They are also very light and stack with almost no gaps. Very easy to fit in dishwasher. Also very easy to get replacements if you ever manage to break one.
I bought 2 sets the other month. Can fit so many more in the dishwasher with a nice gap. Less space in cupboard as they are thin. No chipping. Don’t think I’ve ever dropped a plate in our house before with 3 kids so not worried about the shattering being glass
I have the Ikea Oftast version https://www.ikea.com/au/en/search/?q=oftast which seem to be ok. I've noticed some chips over time, and the odd breakage due to operator error. I also wish they made a slightly larger bowl for ramen. Certainly much cheaper than the Corelle, but I haven't directly compared and contrasted.
love these, light weight makes them the best.
For me, it's Country Cottage. Thanks op, might pick up a set as spares. Current set is going on 10+ years
