banger of a soundtrack thanks to Yuzo koshiro

    • Yuzo Koshiros was guest composer to this game.

      From https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Music_of_the_Streets_of_Rage…

Streets of Rage 4….was composed by Olivier Deriviere, with additional compositions from Yuzo Koshiro, Motohiro Kawashima, Yoko Shimomura, Keiji Yamagishi, Harumi Fujita, Das Mörtal, XL Middleton, Scattle and Groundislava.

The soundtrack is structured so that Deriviere wrote the primary themes, while each boss fight's theme was written by one of the guest composers.

Koshiro was not a part of the project from the start, but joined in June 2019 after playing a demo of the game at BitSummit, an indie game showcase in Japan.

He cited fan requests and how the game was coming along as reasons for joining.

Hideki Naganuma was also originally set to contribute, but dropped out of the project due to scheduling conflicts and was replaced by Fujita.

The soundtrack of the DLC Streets of Rage 4: Mr. X Nightmare released on July 15, 2021 was fully composed by Tee Lopes.

      • ah i had no idea because i have the whole soundtrack and it was named yuzo for all of them for some reason, i still listen to the OST alone without even playing the game, it's that good

Well made game, and the better of the series IMO.

The DLC survival mode is worth it as well. Cool additional mix of powerups and buffs to the combat. Excellent tunes too.

    PS4 version platinum was fun

Great find loved this game as a kid

  • I want this for PS5

    • It was released for the PS4. I'm guessing it runs on PS5.

      • This is all I play on ps5

  • Nice find - the new power rangers game looks kick ass btw (and I wasnt into power rangers back in the day)

  • Echoing all those who said before me. Great game!

  • I'm very weary of buying things digitally from Nintendo. They killed the DS and the Wii stores. I may have bought one or two things there which I don't play much anymore, but it's the principle of it.

    To me anyway.

    • but it makes no difference if you buy the "physical" version as most games are patched if Nintendo go out of business the physical versions will cease to operate fully as they often dont have the full game on there anyway and they have not "dialled Home". This his been happening since the last gen (PS4/Xbox one).Nintendo are unlikely to kill of the switch platform even once the switch 2 comes into play given the huge librarys people have amassed on the platform. What will eventually cease is perhaps the online multiplayer capabilities and the inability to purchased additional DLC. But all long as your switch still works and you've purchased the content they are committed to making it available for you (as long as they are still in business) like Microsoft has done with the Xbox360 and Xbox One

    • Probably the main reason I buy digital games from Nintendo instead of PS5 or Xbox is the storage. I’ve currently got a hell of a lot of games stored on my Switch whereas the PS5 I can only fit a few games. If Nintendo one day, and it would be over a decade from now if it happens, cancel the Switch store, I wouldn’t mind because being able to store all my games on Micro SD has been super easy and I have every game I’ve ever bought on just one card. Whereas, I can only store a few games at a time on my PS5 and because of this, it stops me buying too many digital games for it.

man I have this game on everything switch, ps5, pc, mac os, iOS, and android :D I even have a port of it on pi via linux. :D

  • Is online membership really necessary to enjoy this game? I want to buy for my son but we don't have him play online. Thank you

    • No, we play it completely offline.

Only online thing we did was to buy it from the online eshop.

  • Played this local co op with 4 friends and it was, boring? Not sure why but each stage felt like rinse and repeat. Not a whole lot of unique character moves or attributes. Not sure if anyone else found this boring.

    • I know what you mean. I think there’s an element of nostalgia for people loving it. There’s other side scrolling beat em ups I prefer. Not saying it’s not a good game. I played it for a bit when it was on game pass and thought it was okay and good enough to keep it in my Wishlist for when it’s cheap enough and I feel the value and desire to play it is there.
