The Australian retailer, which also owns Millers, Rivers and Noni B, entered voluntary administration in October. These will also be closing.

Rockmans, Crossroads, W Lane, BeMe and Autograph have already closed.

How sad, after 68 years of operation.

Based on your username, I bet you were you looking forward to 69 years?

How could they fail? I always buy my air fryers and Bluetooth party speakers at Rivers

I figured branching out into commercial bbqs was such a sure thing for Katies. How could it have gone wrong?

      • Good lord. I just had a look - what were they thinking? Now about that type of thing, what is the product that a place going down the tubes will resort to selling which signals that they're finished but don't know it yet? Those children-sized armchairs perhaps? https://www.katies.com.au/product/kids-push-back-recliner-ch…

      • Retailers love a marketplace nowadays. Everyone's gotta have it. Makes it look like you sell everything and anything and virtually no risk!

  • What’s the quality like?

    • -1

      what quality?

        temu quaility at katies prices

Rivers is the worst. Hence I stopped shopping there after my first experience

      • Except goodyear welt boots of which quality is equal to mr williams.

        rivers quality is dire

its sub kmart quiality so its no surprise they aint with us any more

in fact i'm surprised they lasted this long

  • Can anyone comment on bedding and towel quality? With this discount prices seem reasonable but understand RRP is probably inflated.

    • +1

the bedding is shit quality. I think the thread count they have listed is BS, because it doesn't feel like what they claim. I can't speak on the towels.

      • +1

Thread count isn't everything, basically. Bit of Google required to understand.

My MIL is on suicide watch over Rivers. How will she dress like she hasn't purchased new clothing since the late 80's now?

Doing some quick search on Eygptian cotton and bamboo sheets. They advertise 2000TC bamboo but apparently anything over 300-500 is BS. Also the 'bamboo' sheets are 65% polyester when you check the description.

Re: Egyptian cotton they state 1200TC but proper Egyptian cotton is apparently never above 800. Anything over is cheap quality cotton. From what I understand.

    • +1

From my understanding those thick and soft hotel sheets are only around 300-400 Tc.

Much huger and it's all plastic unless you want microfibre sheets

Bamboo is no longer bamboo after the manufacturing process. It's chemically broken down and turned into rayon same as any other cellulose based product.

There is a mechanical way to process bamboo, nobody that I know of does it.

I laugh when people say bamboo is better or there are health benefits. It's all in their imagination.

      • I do like the feel of tradie bamboo socks

        • That's fine, thing is you don't like it because it's bamboo, you like it because it's a nice feeling sock

  • a devastating loss for all the b-tier shopping centres around australia

  • Fyi, the home products people are talking about are from 3rd party marketplace sellers. Katies only sells clothing

  • The sign on the autograph store today, said closed due to lack of staff. Probably been there a while now.
