Yakima HoldUp Evo 2" 2 Bike Hitch Rack $549.99 + Delivery ($0 MEL C&C) @ Top Gear Cycles (Price Beat $522.51 @ 99 Bikes)

150

I was looking for a hitch mount bike carrier (learnt the hard way I can’t be trusted with roof mounted bike carrier and low clearances).

There’s cheaper models, but if you’re after this one, this is the cheapest I’ve seen it.

      Yeah, nah…

Does the job for 2 heavy eBikes and saves you $400.

        • Lol, not even close to doing the same job.

  • Interesting that this model has a lower weight capacity than the standard holdup 2. Would have thought it would be around the other way.

    • yeah its confusing… the standard holdup is more limited in terms of max tyre size

my emtb is 2.6" tyre with 24kg so I cant get both 😅

  • I have this and have driven my MTB from QLD to VIC and back several times.

It’s rock solid, the bike doesn’t even move, and it’s as tight/straight as the day I bought it. I trust it, which I’d the best thing I can say about a product like this.

Plus, my gf can use it easily.

It's good that it can become four bikes with this - https://www.yakima.com.au/holdup-evo-plus2

  • It's a solid unit, which explains why it damn heavy.

Does this suit a tailight and numberplate bar?

  • Seems a bit expensive.
If your bikes have a crossbar you could get something like this a bit cheaper:
    https://www.repco.com.au/4x4-adventure-escape/load-carrying/…

A few occy straps, and a couple of zip ties and a bike number plate to replace the reflector, and you're good to go.

    We'll thats what I did.

    • The one you linked is not ideal for some bikes such as "ladies" step through hikes or dual suspension MTBs. This is because the bike is sitting on the frame instead of the wheels.

Not to mention the bikes will still sway even if you strap them when using a frame mounted one.
