sigh, opened an ING account a couple weeks ago :(

I did too and they refused to give me the $200 Menulog credit.

I went through their complaints who did not help and have just put in an AFCA claim against them.

      YMMV

      • Weird. I went through complaints and they folded.

Doesn't mention anything about a cooling off period from previous account closures.

Yeah, interestingly it just says you can't hold a current account rather than you can't have held/opened one in the last x months.

      • It seems I have an account to login to still but no active accounts. Not sure how I can apply for that within the account

        • I'm in the same boat. I opened just the everyday orange via the account (which is not the bundle) so I assume their system won't automatically grant it to me and I'll have to complain to them some point down the track.

          • @Terra Australis: Yep I just opened both one after another using the promo code in each. See how it goes I guess

isn't it better to just use someone's referral?

It was $125 for the referee and referrer

    • +2

I don't think there is a referral offer currently available

I applied for ING credit card and they automatically opened an orange everyday account for me, I should have signed up for orange everyday first with promo code.

    Just a heads up everyone.

    • Yes, the only way to pay off the owing balance on its credit card is via orange everyday account. It is common that some banks just arbitrarily reject credit card application when they find the customer doesn't bank with them.

I'm still waiting for my $125 referral payment from the last promo :/

    • +3

Ditto. A user on here claimed to use my code back in July, but nothing from ING.

      • I used someone's and got nothing.

  • Just shut mine down today. Possibly a very quick reopening is in the offing.

As I had closed earlier today my details are still in the system so it looks like it won’t work for those who have just closed before this offer.

      • +1

They will keep your details forever so beware.

  • Tried to apply but apparently have to ring them

  • I closed all my accounts over a year ago but it wont let me apply for this as im an existing customer

    • Yeah I closed mine a few years ago and it seems to think I'm an existing customer

Thanks for the heads-up. Was going to re-apply, but now won't bother.
Also, thanks to OP for broadcasting this offer - nice work!

Closed my account this Jan, just tried logging in and creating new account and not issue applying the promo code while logged in, fingers crossed for the Cashback $$$

  • Is there a min spend per transaction?

They denied my $125 that I was hoping to get via the referral generator:

In relation to your Refer a Friend code, see below:

I am not able to see that you registered your account with a promotional code during the application process.

Without a code being entered upon application, our systems are not able to recognise eligibility for promotions. We aren’t able to apply a code once the application has been finalised.

We do run referral programs quite regularly, so long as you keep your accounts up to date you may receive invitations into future promotions. These will generally be emailed to you when applicable.

    Regards,
    Karlie

Next time I'll have to screen record the sign up process.

Yeah, I had the same experience. ING CS tried to BS me without honoring the promo. Dodgy bank.

    • Had the same thing. After days and hours on the line with complaints they finally offered to apply an overdue referral bonus as a "gesture of goodwill" and use mental gymnastics to turn themselves into the victim.

      Dodgy bank indeed.

    • +2

Always be prepared for this BS and take a screenshot showing the entry of the promo code.
In general, never trust a bank to honour anything voluntarily.

    • Still waiting for my referral bonus from last year's

  • +1

They did not give me the $200 menulog credit and did not explain the reason why I was not eligible. Happened twice with me in the last 4 years where there referral or promo code did not work for me. It is definitely a system issue on their side but they turn a blind eye to this.

  • I suspect this is already expired. When I entered the code it says 'Please try again – we couldn’t find a code match'.

  • Strange, I signed up but the code wasn't accepted. Received a message: "Please try again – we couldn’t find a code match". Any idea why?

    • It may have hit the 1000 limit
