I have both, I find myself using the creami more, the texture is good on first spin with creami. The second time I eat I cbf spinning it's more icy.
The compressor is good for traditional icecream, but for sorbets and non traditional (low fat) I like the creami. I like creami because I don't need to follow the science of mixing fats and sugars.

  • This is a good ice cream machine.

You can make the absurdly chocolatey chocolate ice cream you want.

Or if you like matcha you can use non garbage matcha.

    • What is the recipe for chocolate ice-cream? I bought machine.

      • Basically melt a whole lot of chocolate pellets into your custard mix. I like callebaut.

        • So you don't use milk or sugar or glucose or milk powder? Simply melt cooking chocolate and add that to custard powder?

Wonder how this compares to the new KMART ice cream maker with compressor model recently released for $99. Anyone got experience using it? https://www.kmart.com.au/product/ice-cream-maker-43442911/?

this capacity looks like half of aldi's ?

      • It's less than ALDI's by 200ml

        • thank goodness i have not opened the kmart ice cream maker. aldi's size might be a better buy.

There will be 2 quantity every store ! Waste of time @ Aldi

  • Anyone else feel like Pantone made a huge mistake flogging their brand off to places like Big W and Aldi to sell cheap accessories that eventually go on clearance?

Our average costs and go-to recipes for this machine are, for 1L:
    $1.80 fro-yo
    $2 Watermelon sorbet
$0.80 Lemon sorbet (or $3 if store-bought lemons)
    $3 chocolate icecream (no egg)
$4 roasted cherry or roasted strawberry icecream

    • I’d love to see the breakdown of the $4 cherry ice cream

  • Target or Kmart has $99 one, what the difference? Does this one worth $50 extra?

  • How different would it be using an ice cream maker after mixing all ingredients as compared to just mixing them all in a container and putting it in the freezer?
I have always been using the ice cream maker but capacity is a bit small, but I have a bigger container that I could easily fit the freezer if I just mix everything in.
Would it taste similar too and also the texture?

    • +1

Taste the same, texture wouldn't be as good

    • Depends if you're making an egg custard, or Philadelphia style (no eggs).
If egg custard, you can't just mix that in a container.
If Philadelphia style — the flavour might "resemble" ice cream, but will be a denser, icier product than something that's churned.

  • Anyone had any success using this ice cream machine with a no added sugar recipe?

The Target / Kmart machine is currently on clearance for $49 https://www.target.com.au/p/ice-cream-maker-white/69903656

Always check the comments before buying, a piece of advice for me.
Thanks, bought one, will have to return the aldi one…

  • Snagged one of these.

Just wondering for existing owners - do you guys leave the paddle IN after it's done and eat around it, OR remove the paddle (which was a PITA) and scrape off the mix as best you can before placing in freezer to harden?

    Thanks in advance.

I made the gelato recipe in the booklet a couple days ago and removed the paddle before putting in the freezer. Dunno about the ice cream recipe (hoping for @linkindan to share his ratios)
