Best Mobile SIM + Phone Plan for up to $150 a Month?

Hey OZB,

My new employer is paying up to $150 a month for mobile phone/plan expenses. I had the perfect plan in mind to use the JBHIFI 12month Telstra gift card deals however discovered they are no longer available.

What are the best plans that fit these days? I would ideally love something including a new iPhone, 12 months contract and gift card bonus (so that the purchase of the device can be tax deductible).

Really appreciate your guys thoughts. Thank you :)

  • Jb hifi 24 month plans are gonna be best but they are 99 a month with gift card

  • Have you considered Optus with the SubHub offer? Will your employer allow you to keep the handset?

    • yeah it's an expensed repayment of your own initial cost - however it needs to be for phone items only, I had a look at subhub but not sure if that would fit, would you have a specific configuration in mind?

      • 24 month option: Apple iPhone 16 Pro $74.94 /month Promo Plan 360GB data $69.00 /month: total $143.94 /month
        12 month option: Apple iPhone 16 $116.58 /month Small Choice Plus Plan 50GB data $52.00 /month: total $168.58 /month

  • +1

That’s very generous of your employer!

Mind sharing their name, or any opportunities at the place.

  • Be wary about locking yourself into an expensive plan, then being stuck to pay it yourself because the new employment didn’t work out. I’m sure some employers do this (esp with cars) deliberately to lock new employees into a crap job

    • Yeah you are right and it is a point to consider, I guess that's why I was hoping for 12 months. It's probably not the healthiest workplace so good chance I would not be there after a year or so…
