you can get 3TB for $149 at dicksmith atm

    • I assume that is for an external drive? I didn't think DSE carried these drives.

    • These are WD Red drives specifically for 24/7 operation in NAS/server environments.

    • +1

      Completely different product, bro.

      • +1

I assume you meant to neg his comment rather than the deal?

        • +1

No, I meant to neg the deal.

I bought one of these about a month ago from Ozgameshop for $129, shipped free. Though they're out of stock, you can get these from retailers all across Australia for, on average, under $136.

      • Negative vote removed - presumably a mistake.

        • Please reinstate my neg vote - it was not a mistake.

        • Can you please elaborate why "completely different product" is your reason for negging the deal? Did you mean to neg the comment not the deal?

        • "Completely different product" isn't my reason for negging the deal - it's a comment made to let that person know they're talking about a completely different product. As I stated, I meant to neg the deal and it wasn't a mistake.

I negged it because it wasn't the cheapest price, by a long shot. In fact, it was only an okay price, and mostly only okay if you absolutely had to have it shipped.

It doesn't make much difference now, but I thought I ought to clarify. I think it's a bit problematic if the mods can't tell when users mean to neg something, and change their votes without asking/clarifying first.

even including shipping - at $199 is not a "bargain"

        • +1

Removed the 3TB drive. If you can find a cheaper 2TB shipped we will adjust pricing.

        • +1

          msy has the 3TB for 188 :D

      • +1

They're out of stock at the moment, but Ozgameshop had them for $129 shipped. http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/85008

If you're desperate for one of these drives and you can't get yourself to any of the cheaper retailers as shown on statice, then this is an okay deal. But really, it's not a deal per say. It's just a possibly on-the-cheaper-side-if-you-need-it-shipped, but I don't really consider it 'free shipping' if you factor other people's shipping price into which prices you'll compete with. But that's just me.

        • That is fair enough, for us it is more about price transparency. The price you see is what you pay. We obviously have to pay for shipping, so we need to factor it into our prices. But everyone in Australia pays the same price.

Also that deal was for UK stock shipped directly, so no GST, and no local warranty.

    • $138 shipped now. If you would be so kind as to remove your neg it would be appreciated.

  • Warmest month in march with 12.8 degress above record

  • Sydney, Nova Scotia

Coldest morning in November minus 12.8 degrees

  • March 2012, coldest temp!

  • Umart selling the 3TB reds for $188 …

  • Warmest temperature snow has fallen in?
    (Probably way off the mark)

  • +2
    • Limited to one per customer + $9 shipping. Why on earth would they implement a one per customer limitation on a drive intended for NAS usage? Good price, but odd marketing…

  • 12.8 degrees in Sydney overnight on 18 June 2008 as people queued overnight for the Sydney Apple store to open.

  • Because it snowed? Or freezing rain?

  • Lowest minimum temperature in Sydney for December 18.

    • Actually December 25 makes more sense.

      • getting really close now.

      • Coldest Xmas day in Sydney.

        • december 25th is Christmas day?!?!

        • I know - it was a hopeful rewording ;)

          I'll also try:

Lowest minimum temperature in Sydney for Xmas Eve.
Lowest minimum temperature in Sydney for New Years Eve.
Lowest minimum temperature in Sydney for New Years Day.

          ;)

The actual deals are becoming derailed by this quizzing. I dont think that belongs in the deal thread.
The deal itself, isn't a deal.

    • We have removed the 3TB drive from the deal. Can you find a cheaper price shipped on the 2TB, if so happy adjust pricing.

    Coldest Boxing Day on record.

      Sorry comp is over.

  • Here are 20 companies selling these for $133 to $139, exclusive of shipping obviously but $148 shipped doesn't seem to be anything out of the ordinary.

    • Megabuy is the only one I can find shipping prices on without having to sign up. And they are $151 shipped.

      MSY also, $136 + $9 shipping(to sydney)…
      http://www.msy.com.au/product.jsp?productId=9442

      • Dropped price to $142. Thanks for actually posting shipped price. much more helpful than just a link to staticice.

EDIT: I thought I recognized that name. This isn't the first time you have made a negative post on one of our deals without any real reason. Have we wronged you at some point?

  • Any microsd cards?

  • What a rip off, doesn't even make it to the first page of Staticice. Surely most people have one of the cheaper stores near them. The only thing saving it is that it includes shipping. No bargain here

    • +1

Please find a cheaper price shipped.

I have not neg voted so I don't need to do anything bud. How about offer a good price in the first place instead of waiting for someone to find a cheaper link then undercutting it by 2 dollars.

        • +4

There is no possible way we can check the price for every single reseller online before posting. 90% of the time we are cheapest, when we aren't or when someone (LTS) drops the price after we post a deal we will always try to beat it. Which as far as I can remember we have done every single time. If you look at our average votes we are usually pretty good off the bat with pricing. I can't really see how you can justify us beating the lowest posted price into a bad thing, especially on OZB.

        • +2

Rules like this exist for a reason:

          CHECK competitors prices before posting.

It means you're supposed to offer a bargain in the first place, not offer an average market price and hope that no one notices.

          Thanks.

        • I like the cut of your jib

        • As mentioned above, we do check pricing with competitors, but we can't check the after shipping price of every reseller. Especially when so many require you to sign up for an account before you can even see the after shipping price. A policy which we are very much against. That is why if someone posts a lower price on one of our deals we will always beat it.

As for hoping that no one will notice that is a completely ridiculous statement. Obviously if there is a better price someone will post it…

        • Get the OZB community to do the price checking for you. Smart.

        • Again we check prices before we post a deal. I can think of maybe 3-4 deals where we have had to adjust pricing after posting. But there is no way we can check every reseller.

If the choice is either being 100% certain we are the lowest (which would mean never posting) or posting and then beating a lower price. I think as an OZB member I know what I would prefer.

        • +1

Just a friendly tip - we appreciate you price matching after better deals are posted, that's really cool, but your defensive replies put a sour taste on it all. I wasn't ragging on you. It IS smart to get a community of bargain hunters to help out with price checking, because you're right - it's not possible for you to check every reseller. At the same time, you wouldn't need to if you were offering a good deal rather than just beating prices.

You can be 100% sure you're the lowest - by simply making good deep cuts. Not saying you have to do that, but you can.

        • Sorry about that my sarcasm detector must have misfired! That is totally fair enough, keep in mind with items like this though deep cuts are 99% of the time under cost. Obviously it depends on what you consider a deep cut, for most people on OZB that is 1c.

When we started the deal after shipping we were losing a few dollars per drive with the assumption that a few people would by 2+ drives which would then break even. At this point we are losing a fair amount on each sale. Which again we don't mind, but we can't just go out and lose $30 per drive. Unless logitech Shop starts selling hard drives ;)

Let's make it for Australian locals.

      $138 shipped now.

      • Sold!

  • @flingshot — please do not use the deal to run voucher competition. This is not your Facebook page. All competition related comments will be marked as Off-Topic here as well as your previous post.

    • Fair enough we will move them to our facebook page in the future.

    • booo scotty, I like the little extra bits! ohh well i guess i understand your reasoning.

      • We will abide by the ruling of the mods. I would have though the extra page views were worth it though ;). Also a significant portion of people on here seem to hate facebook so that will mean some will miss out.
