Why are UGreen/Baseus USB-C Braided Cables such Poor Quality?

Does anyone have a better recommendation for usb-c cables or is this just a problem with the braided cables?

I noticed there are issues with all my ugreen and baseus cables which were wildly raved about on ozbargain last year. Sometimes I plug in these cheaper cables and it shows charging but then when I unplug it at the end of my 8 hour sleep, it hasn't charged at all.

I do not know why that could be the case, but I believe the connection is there but the amps going through must be very low because of some micro breakages in the cable over the year.

The phone is brand new from Amaysim and I used the cable (PVC) from Samsung and it works fine.

I also did some testing with samsung t7 ssd drive and the cheap cable is dead sometimes and working sometimes….

Is this problem only isolated to braided cables? I've never had this problem with a PVC type cable that usually comes with the phone. Those usually last over 5 years, in fact I've got some old micro-usb cables that have continued working until I got my new phone.

  • Yeah I also had a pretty shit run with baseus cables, but I also think I paid something insane like $1.50 shipped each or something through some deal here.

My u green ones I still use everyday at work and homeā€¦ so no complaints here.

I rate Belkin cables too, I have a 3m iOS lightning cable I use everyday too. Was extremely pricey , I think I paid closer to $20 in sale via Amazon.

  • baseus yes poor.
    blitzwolf too , poor.
    ugreen still good

    ugreen is still good.

  • The only issue I have had with Ugreen cables is when I upgrade my devices, I realise the cables also need upgrading.

Are you using the same charger? That can be an issue.

I use Toocki cables and they're perfectly fine. Much cheaper than INIU that people go crazy for.

    • It's a new charger that came with the A13 from Amaysim.

I usually keep my old cables until they die, but maybe 1 year is now a reasonable timeframe for them to start failing since it's only a few dollars. Previously they would last a few years at least.

I don't know if the quality of the aliexpress cables has changed or maybe I got the fake ones or something… I still have some old xiaomi microusb cables and they are perfect, albeit they aren't braided.

The A13 comes with charger and cable, so I'm using that now; but I didn't actually realise my old cables, both of which I bought at the same time, roughly a year ago, had failed. The older the cable is, it seems the better it is. Recently purchased cables seem to be inferior, or maybe it's because I bought it from the choice program.

I know there are fakes on Aliexpress choice, because if you look up granny trolleys, one of them has a seller just randomly sending fake items to the purchaser. Let me find it and post the link, if it hasn't been already removed.

It's this item but you need to look at it on your phone under cross-platform highlights because the listing has been removed:
Link This current listing is not the offending listing which was a choice approved item.

I haven't had any issues with Ugreen braided cables purchased in the past few years. They've lasted until now, no issues. The USB-C cables still charge quickly at full speed, that I know of.
