Amazon.com - all international shippings delayed?

I was just enquiring about an order I placed on November 15 that still hasn't arrived.

The representative informed me that the

order is been delayed because of the great impact the hurricane Sandy had on the carriers routes and shipping. So it is getting delayed longer than usual to be shipped out of the US.

When queried if this was all international orders, the reply was:

Correct, all the shippings were delayed since the impact was on the fulfillment centers.

Has anybody else had issues with any orders placed in November?

    Sounds a bit fishy unless the warehouse that holds the movies was hit.

    I order something from Amazon.de the other day, dispatched from Carlstadt NJ ( albeit inland west of Manhattan).

    Arrived at destination and will be entered into the delivery stream after sucessful clearance   Dec 18 2012 7:56PM AU

    2 days from their NJ warehouse to Australian customs.

    • When I made the comment that Amazon UK ships much quicker, they told me that different Amazon international sites use different shipping partners.

  • I have had no problems, standard shipping is quite slow. The last one arrived 4 days after the deadline, but I attributed that more to the Christmas increase (at customs and/or aus post with the increase in workload) rather than anything in the US.

    most likely they will refund your shipping or resend the item if its later than expected date

    happened to me a few times before

    but yeah, shipping is as normal

  • Yeh I am my order was suppose to be in on the 14th dec but still nothing. I'm starting to get nervous it won't make it in time for xmas

    • You might be alright - sounds like it has been fine for most people.

  • Hmm sounds like what the rep told me was inaccurate, since it seems to be ok for most orders. Thanks for all the responses.

    • You should followup. Ask for the Tracking Number or Billway No. and check them on DHL. I just got an electrical item from Amazon yesterday, ordered last week. They are very efficient. You login to Amazon and check your Order. The tracking details should be in your email and definitely on your order. If on Amazon.com, track on DHL or DHL Global.

      • There's no tracking information for my particular order, but I was given a tracking number from the rep for 'MSI', which I will call when I get a chance. Their offices were closed before.

  • I ordered something on the 11th, and it arrived yesterday. I was suprised, when I bought it I thought this won't be here before Christmas!

  • Check who your delivery provider is. If it's MSI they're ridiculously slow. But still, if it was sent 15 Nov you should have it by now.

    • Yeah it was MSI, unfortunately.

  • Received item on Christmas Eve. It must have gone around the globe….

    • Obviously MSI had to place an order to the North Pole haha
