For the price I think it's okay. We only got it for the bedroom tv to hear dialogue better, and it's fine for that. However, we run a Chromecast and the Chromecast remote can't adjust the volume, so we had to revert to the tv remote for volume which is annoying.
Not sure if it works for you, but I put the volume of the ray to the highest using TV remote, and then use the chrome cast remote to control volume from there, if that makes sense.
Curious. So i had both chromecast with google tv both the base model then the 4k model
With the base model i could control the tv volume with the chromecast remote with the 4k model i could not.

No HDMI connection makes me think ehh but does seem like a good deal.
