Sonos Ray 2CH Soundbar $211 + Delivery ($0 C&C/In-Store) @ Harvey Norman

150

Was recently $244 ($499 RRP) but seems to have been discounted again. Cheap enough to give it a go if your requirements aren’t all that high. Perfect bedroom soundbar IMO.

Worth mentioning that this unit has no HDMI but is supplied with an optical cable.

Postage was $49 for me so pickup is your friend as there seems to be plenty of stock.

Not compatible with my derelict old S1 system that works perfectly, guess I'll have to skip this, thanks Sonos!

    • Yeah, nah, Sonos make a better soundbar.

      • I'm curious what you are basing it on? This is an entry level soundbar from Sonos and lacks even Dolby Atmos.

        • I'm curious what you are basing it on?

Experience, I've owned many products from both manufacturers.

Also, I couldn't find the Xiaomi soundbar for purchase anywhere, so not sure why you're even considering it as an option.

          • @magic8ballgag: All I can say is the Sonos looks pretty basic and underpowered, and lacks many inputs and creature comforts, but sounds like the sound staging is better based on your comments.

It's not on the AU Xiaomi site yet as it's very new, but available on AliExpress - https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005008202569497.html?spm=a2….

            • @clubhonda: The specs look decent for the price, but I'd still prefer the Sonos.

              • @magic8ballgag: No problem, it's a very personal choice anyway. To me, it's a hard pass as it's missing many features that I'd consider essential. If I was in the market for an entry level soundbar, I'd probably pick the Xiaomi instead. https://www.theverge.com/23149484/sonos-ray-soundbar-review

                • @clubhonda: Fair enough. I must admit, lack of HDMI-CEC is annoying, but I was able to program volume control on the Ray to my TV's infrared remote.

It's very much an entry-level soundbar though, and is more designed for a secondary/bedroom TV. I'd consider other soundbars (like the Beam) for a primary/lounge TV.

                  • @magic8ballgag: I think you're right. This seems more the right fit for a bedroom setup instead which I can see it doing well.

  • looking out for a decent Hi-Fi system for my new 85" Hisense U7N TV. Any recommendations?

      of course SS Q990D

Sonos beam + 2 ikea symfonisk as rears and sonos submini. I saw a beam deal yesterday and symfonisk deal just before this. This if you want a good Sonos system for less than 1k.

  • This or the Beam v2?

  • Was SSQ990D on sales on Cyber Monday for around $700-800 or am I confusing with a different model

  • NVM I found that it was a different model Q930. Damn I missed that deal half price. On a different question if I buy different brands ie. sound bar, subwoofer, rear speakers all different brands, do I need an amplifier to connect them all or will they talk to each other?

  • Would love the white version for $211 but only seeing black at that hot price.

  • be careful, alot of new remotes use bluetooth or radio to change volume, this cannot contorl the volume on this
