eBay Purchase Arrived Damaged - What Do I Do?

Not sure if this is the right place for help.

What my problem is, I purchased a TV board on the 01/12/2024, received the item and unpacked it to find that a part that should have been removed for transit was left in the board had broken part of the plastic cover over the contacts. This part is critical for the connection, I don't know whether it was damaged when seller packed it or damaged in transit, it was very poorly packaged. The board did not work in the TV (I buy repair and sell TVs and I know what I am doing).

I contacted the seller and sent him a picture of the damage to the board, he then said to send it back with a tracking number so he can check it. I filed a case with eBay about it under damaged item, he received the board, said he tested it and it was OK. Never mentioned about the damaged part, he offered a partial refund and has handed it over to eBay 3 days ago and I have received no reply as to what is going on. All I can find out is case pending please wait. At present I am down $150 and no board (cost of board/postage and return postage).

Has anybody got any advice, I have been on eBay for 23 years and never had much trouble until now.

    Esteemed members,

I humbly seek your counsel regarding an unfortunate predicament I have encountered concerning a recent transaction on the eBay platform. On the 1st of December 2024, I procured a television circuit board with the intent to utilize it for repair purposes. Upon receipt of the item, I endeavored to unpack it only to discover that a component—critical for ensuring proper functionality—had sustained damage. Specifically, the plastic covering over the electrical contacts was fractured, a defect likely attributable to the seller's failure to remove a transit safeguard, which was left improperly affixed to the board.

The packaging provided was manifestly inadequate, and as such, I remain uncertain as to whether the damage was sustained during the process of transit or if it occurred prior to shipment as a consequence of the seller's neglect. I subjected the board to rigorous testing within a television unit, but it failed to function as intended. (For context, I possess extensive experience in the repair and resale of television units and am confident in my assessment.)

Upon contacting the seller, I furnished photographic evidence of the damage. The seller responded by requesting the item be returned, accompanied by a tracking number, so they could conduct an inspection. Subsequently, I initiated a formal case through eBay, citing the item as "damaged." The seller has since acknowledged receipt of the returned board, claimed that their testing revealed no faults, and neglected to address the specific damage I identified. They proposed a partial refund and, as of three days ago, escalated the matter to eBay for adjudication.

At this juncture, I am at an impasse, with the case marked as "pending" and no further updates forthcoming. My financial losses presently total $150, encompassing the cost of the board, initial shipping fees, and return postage.

As a patron of eBay for a span of 23 years, I have seldom encountered such complications. Might I solicit your esteemed advice regarding the optimal course of action to resolve this disconcerting matter?

Ho ho ho, not sure if this is Santa's workshop or the right place for help, but here we go! So, I bought myself a little early Christmas gift—a TV board—on December 1st, 2024. Thought I was getting a sleigh ride to success, but instead, I unwrapped a lump of coal! When I opened the package (which was wrapped worse than a re-gifted fruitcake), I found that some part that should’ve been removed for transit wasn’t—and surprise! It broke the plastic cover over the contacts. This part is as critical as Rudolph on a foggy Christmas Eve.

Now, I don’t know if this damage happened when the seller packed it or if it got banged up in transit by some Grinch. Either way, it was packaged like someone used leftover wrapping paper from last year. Naturally, the board didn’t work in the TV (and trust me, I’m no amateur elf—I repair and sell TVs for a living). So, I contacted the seller, sent him a picture of the damage, and he told me to send it back with a tracking number so he could "check it out."

Fast forward to me filing an eBay case under "Damaged Item"—because clearly, this board isn’t going on anyone’s nice list. The seller gets the board back, claims he tested it and says it’s fine (uh, what about the broken part?). He offered me a partial refund (gee, thanks for the holiday cheer) and then handed things over to eBay three days ago. Now I’m stuck in limbo with $150 gone (board cost + postage + return postage) and no TV board to show for it. All eBay says is "case pending," which feels like waiting for Santa to show up when you know you’re on the naughty list.

So here I am, down $150 and feeling like the ghost of Christmas ripped-off. Anybody got advice? Been on eBay for 23 years and never had this much trouble before—guess this year’s stocking is stuffed with bad luck!

Comrade, I not sure if this place is good for help, but I have problem. On 01.12.24, I buy TV board. When it arrive, I open box and see big mistake. Part that should be removed for travel is left in board and break plastic cover over contacts. This part is very important for connection, yes?

I not know if seller pack it bad or it break during transport, but packaging is very weak. Board not work in TV (I fix and sell TVs, I know what I am doing). I send picture of damage to seller, and he say, "Send back with tracking number, I check."

I open case on eBay for damaged item. Seller get board, say he test it, and it is okay, but never say about broken part. He offer little refund, but now eBay take case. Three days, no answer. Case say "pending, please wait."

Now I lose $150! (Cost of board, postage, return postage.) Does anyone have advice? I use eBay 23 years, never have big problem like this before. Help comrade!

Well, consarn it! I ain't sure if this here is the right place for help, but lemme tell ya my tale of woe. I done bought me a TV board on the 1st of December, 2024. When I got the dang thing and unpacked it, I found a part that shoulda been removed for transit was left in there, and it done broke part of the plastic cover over the contacts. This here part is critical for the connection, ya see. Now, I don't know if it got damaged when the seller packed it or if it happened in transit, but it was packaged poorer than a coyote's dinner.

The board didn't work in the TV (and I know what I'm doin', I buy, repair, and sell TVs). I contacted the seller and sent him a picture of the damage. He told me to send it back with a trackin' number so he could check it. I filed a case with eBay under damaged item, and he received the board. Said he tested it and it was okay, but never mentioned the damaged part. He offered a partial refund and handed it over to eBay three days ago, and I ain't heard nothin' since. All I see is "case pending, please wait."

Right now, I'm down $150 with no board (cost of the board, postage, and return postage). Anybody got any advice? I've been on eBay for 23 years and never had much trouble until now. Dag-nabbit!

Ddim yn siŵr ai dyma'r lle iawn i gael cymorth.
Beth yw fy mhroblem, prynais fwrdd teledu ar 01/12/2024, derbyniais yr eitem a'i ddadbacio i ddarganfod bod rhan a ddylai fod wedi'i thynnu i'w chludo wedi'i gadael yn y bwrdd wedi torri rhan o'r clawr plastig dros y cysylltiadau. Mae'r rhan hon yn hanfodol ar gyfer y cysylltiad, nid wyf yn gwybod a gafodd ei ddifrodi pan wnaeth y gwerthwr ei bacio neu ei ddifrodi wrth ei gludo, roedd wedi'i becynnu'n wael iawn. Nid oedd y bwrdd yn gweithio yn y teledu (rwy'n prynu trwsio a gwerthu setiau teledu ac rwy'n gwybod beth rwy'n ei wneud).
Cysylltais â'r gwerthwr ac anfonais lun ato o'r difrod i'r bwrdd, yna dywedodd i'w anfon yn ôl gyda rhif olrhain fel y gall ei wirio. Fe wnes i ffeilio achos gydag eBay amdano o dan eitem wedi'i ddifrodi, derbyniodd y bwrdd, dywedodd ei fod yn ei brofi ac roedd yn iawn. Peidiwch byth â sôn am y rhan a ddifrodwyd, cynigiodd ad-daliad rhannol ac mae wedi ei drosglwyddo i eBay 3 diwrnod yn ôl ac nid wyf wedi cael unrhyw ateb ynglŷn â'r hyn sy'n digwydd. Y cyfan y gallaf ei ddarganfod yw achos yn yr arfaeth, arhoswch. Ar hyn o bryd rydw i i lawr $150 a dim bwrdd (cost bwrdd/postio a phostio dychwelyd).
Oes unrhyw un wedi cael unrhyw gyngor, dwi wedi bod ar eBay ers 23 mlynedd a erioed wedi cael llawer o drafferth tan nawr.
