The manufactruing of Jute globally still has a very high incidence of slavery use. Does Muji have an ethical statement declaring slave free labour?

      Very high? Which countries?

      • +2

Bangladesh? Though I think that is technically Child labour

    • No need to downvote, just asking a question.

      • +1

I got negged for asking questions and trying to make a joke. OzB is a fickle place

no you're making a rather bold statement, then asking a question. Neither is related directly to the deal.

        just asking a question

No you're agenda is classic whataboutism/disinformation. If you really wanted to know the answer you'd ask Muji and then add their answer to the comments. Or google it and post the answer here.

        I don't blame those who neg'd you.

        • A true statement, so some background. I am purchasing jute bags from Bangladesh for Cocoa packign. I buy 21000 at a time. Since last year Prices have gone from 89cents to 91cents, to$1.05 to $1.15 each in our move to source ethical product. So having bought 84,000 jute bags in the last 12 months I am aware of the cost of ethical sourcing and was interested in what companies selling jute products are doing.
For example Kmart has an ethical sourcing policy here: https://www.kmart.com.au/sourcingethically/?srsltid=AfmBOoo3…

          • @OhPee: well as I said ask Muji, not Ozbargain. then feel free to post the question & answer if you feel it's relevant to the deal.

You original comment is made to insinuate that Muji uses slave labour products, propped up as "I'm just asking questions".

If they do in fact do, then go forth & shame, but don't lob the grenade using the classic "I'm just asking questions" line and act shocked when you're neg'd.

Again if you actually want to know the answer to the "just asking questions" then ask the people involved.

    • I'm just here for cheap stuff. Not ESG compliance.

  • I hope the click and collect gets resolved.

The jumpers and hoodies here are great and I grabbed some on discount during Black Friday
