Great price for a great game

    Found the IGN reviewer ;)

    "great game"

    • +28

This is going to have the same fate as Suicide Squad… It will just keep decreasing and decreasing in price, very fast. So just hold out and it will be in the 75+% off category in no time!

      • +4

I bought the delux version of suicide Squad on steam for 95% last week I think lol it was like 7 bucks. down from 150 lol

        • +3

Aren't they shutting down the servers after fourth season?

          • @LostyJai: no idea isn't it a single player as well though? I though it was like the Gotham knights game.

          • +1

@LostyJai: I dont believe so, but in any case, they are implementing an offline mode alongside the Season 4 update.

            • +1

              @jjsu: @jjsu @kungfuman
Sorry I don't know and I've never played it, just heard the news:
              https://overclock3d.net/news/software/suicide-squad-kill-theā€¦

              • @LostyJai: Did you read the article, or just the headline?

Thankfully, todayā€™s update for Suicide Squad will add an ā€œoffline modeā€ to the game. This mode will allow gamers to experience all of the gameā€™s main story campaign and seasonal story mission content. While WB Games says that the gameā€™s servers will remain online, this is a clear sign that Warner Brothers is preparing to lower its costs and shut down the gameā€™s servers. If/when these servers shut down, the gameā€™s online co-op mode will no longer be available.

            • @jjsu: hmmm maybe I should get a refund from steam :D it has been that long.

      • +6

I'm waiting till it's free on Epic Store

Let me tell you I'm a non-binary first before I purchase and play this game…

  • +20

    Thanks but no thanks…..

  • +15

Maybe with the decimal point moved one place to the left it would be worth jumping in!

  • +7

    This game is very woke!

      • +12

Controlled by a single word, as you sit here with an essay to reply to someone who would not give 2 cents about what you think. The word woke only upset 1 person here.

As for social progression/wokeness, no one likes anything being forced down their throat. People want to enjoy their media without political agenda, regardless of which side of the argument you fall on

    • +20

If you donā€™t want to be gay in this game, just donā€™t choose the choices that make your protagonist gay xd

      • +6

BUT BUT BUT then I can't complain about how woke the game is and look like a complete tosspot because only idiots use the word "woke" like it's a bad thing.

    • +12

People have been complaining about Bioware games being PC/sjw/woke (whatever buzzword you lot have been programmed to mindlessly parrot) since their inception. Some countries wanted Mass Effect banned for the option of gay sex scenes.

    • +8

It's not woke (whatever that means), but it is badly written, forced writing with shallow, uninteresting characters.

The real issue is the poor writing, not whether they include certain character types. Definitely a step down from the writing in previous games.

It's sad because I think many of us were looking forward to this.

  • -2

People here will say it's a crap game and then go out and buy Call of Duty Black Ops 6…. Which has the exact same overall rating on metacritic, or go and play Marvel Rivals which is rated much worse.

Shame that gamers are toxic babies.

    • +10

If it was a good game it would have more players by now. Look at BG3 numbers and thats a turn based D&D gamd

If you are saying you played Origins which was inspired by BG2 and you like this game you are lying, half the lore has been abandoned.

who the hell plays Dragon Age as a mindless hack and slash where everyone in the world refuses to say a single bad word

      • +3

Judging games (or anything) by popularity doesn't make such sense. You can have a good game that just doesn't sell well.

BG3 is regarded as one of the best games ever made and one of those rare ones that just hits right at the right time and explodes in popularity way past even the wildest expecations (same as something like Elden Ring). What other games can compare to that?

        • +3

Judging games by critic reviews alone also doesn't make much sense though. Reviewers can have their own biases or agendas and developers / publishers can skew review scores by limiting access to review copies to reviewers who are less likely to be critical towards the game.

When a game is popular, at the very least it shows that the game appeals to a broad range of audience so it'll more likely to appeal to you if you like that type of game.

          • -1

@Mucchan: Of course not, judging by 1 critic review could be biased, but this is looking at all of them.

If the most critical reviews don't even fall into negative, then the game is at worst 'just ok'

      • +4

'Good game' is subjective and player count will NEVER equate to a game's quality, no matter how much Steam drones will obsess on it. That only ranks it's commercial success (on one platform mind you), which doesn't necessarily make a 'good' game. Same goes for all creative media. Some of the most critically (and consumer) acclaimed films ever made were box office bombs. On the other hand, some of the worst, or most average films ever made have been endlessly successful at making money.

BG3 was excellent, but not because it did numbers.

If we're talking about player count and commercial success when defining a 'good' game, Alan Wake 2 was a 'bad' game; when in reality, objectively, it was one of the top 3 games to release overall last year. Funnily enough, that also had the same people screaming 'wokeness' for some reason, even though there was nothing woke about the game, and the line that people often clip to prove their point is severely taken out of context.
DA:TV, although I haven't played it, is only really 'woke' if you play it by making choices to get to the 'woke' stuff, correct? If that's the case, same thing and it's a shame that people are this easily turned off of something.

DA:TV deserves to exist even if it doesn't/didn't do numbers. Critically, it did well. You can have a laugh and say they were all paid for, but there's no way that EA paid off THE ENTIRE INDUSTRY, and I know actual people who really enjoyed the game in real life.

        • +1

I think people wouldn't be as annoyed if it wasn't called Dragon Age because that sets the expectation of an RPG with good writing.

As a Dragon Age game I think it completely fails, as a big publisher action game its probably fine even though its not for me personally.

I think that is also what caused a major split in reviewers as well (Outside of those who are hating on it for its "wokeness") because if you reviewed it as a Dragon Age sequel you would think it was complete crap but if you like the more bright modern style of game with lots of flashy combat without a lot of substance you would probably enjoy it.

    • +1

Right? PS5 version has 54 positive reviews, 17 mixed and 0 negative.

It doesn't look the best game ever made, but it looks like a solid modern RPG. Probably wait til its $20 or so to try.

    • +7

If you wanna buy it, you are free to.

If we don't wanna buy it, we are free to.

Stop being so concerned about what others are doing with their money.

    • +2

That's a very apples to oranges comparison there. Comparing a single player RPG to a multiplayer FPS and hero shooter let alone one of them being F2P. Completely different type of games altogether.

    • My first dragon age game I tried playing was inquisition, a few years after release. I don't remember much of it but I do recall that it was so bland that I could not bring myself to play more than an hour.

  • +19

As a player since DA:Origin days. I'd probably put it in the bargain bin category. Gameplay is solid, they seemed to have gone the mass effect route with skill combos. Story is standard fare so far but the writing is terrible. Cast is average too, feels like they were written by high schoolers. Overall if you're a fan of the series it's worth a spin.

    • +21

if you are a fan of the series you will hate it even more, most of the praise comes from first time players not long term fans

    • +14

What kills me is that every dialogue choice is a variation of "Yes". You only have the illusion of choice.

      1. Witty Yes
      2. Friendly Yes
      3. Snarky Yes
      4. Flirty Yes

Every Dragon Age game has been so different to the last that I have no idea what the Dragon age series is anymore. It's now just a catchall name for EA/Bioware's generic fantasy game. I think the best and cheapest way to experience this is to pay the $13/m for PC Game Pass and just cancel when you're done.

      • +2

Its got that same stink as Fallout 4 with the dialogue options.

    • +3

Playing Mage, I felt the combat was incredibly tedious, and after a while boring as hell with spongy enemies (especially the Dragons). This was playing on the standard difficulty. Rogue or Warrior might be more fun, but the game isn't engaging enough for me to play again any time soon.

Companions are pretty one note ("the tech girl", "the professional") as well which doesn't help.

The most egregious thing I found for long time fans is that all the hard edges of the older games have been filed off.

In Origins if you were an Elf, pretty much 50% of the NPCs would hate your guts, unpleasant but extremely consistent with their world building.

In Veilguard you can be an Elf in the middle of the Tevinter Imperium and no one will even give you a dirty look.

      • +1

I'm playing a Qunari Rogue for comparison so it does have a bit more interactivity with parries. I agree that the enemies do feel very spongy, especially if there is a level difference.

After having played BG3 twice it really shows the gulf in the calbre of characterisation. It's crazy how the entire cast in BG3 is so likeable whereas it's a struggle in the DA:V cast. I agree the dark fantasy aspect is completely lost.

  • +9

I got it for free through a GeForce Now and cloud.gg subscription but stopped playing after three hours. It was a total waste of time. The game is boringā€”combat just involves spamming two or three buttons with no strategy whatsoever. Itā€™s the complete opposite of the earlier titles, where you had to plan your fights and manage potions carefully.

  • +15

Game isnt worth $5 let alone close to $60

  • +2

Great timing! Was going to grab this for Christmas anyway. Big fan of the DA games.

    Thanks!

  • +1

Thanks but I'm not woke enough for the game.

  • ē¬‘嘻äŗ† äø€äøŖ꜈65ꊘ Ꞝē„¶woke

  • +1

I haven't even finished dragon Age 1 yet….. but hey lets get another dragon age game lol

  • +1

you couldn't pay me to play this game

    • +3

nobody would pay you to do that

    • +7

Not a reason to neg the deal mate.

Unless you can find somewhere selling it for cheaper thereā€™s no reason to neg this deal

  • +7

    Woke game for Woke people

  • +3

I played it to end, about 50hrs (doing most side quests) otherwise it's supposed to be 25h. Bought for $70, sold for $50. Wasnt overly woke just abit boring. Kept hoping it would get better and by then i figured id just finish to see how story ends. As above comments, its prob worth a look at $20 or below price point.

  • +3

    Maybe at $5.

  • infested with DEI stuff

    • +7

That's fine but that's not a reason to neg a deal. That's not what its for.

    • -8

Aww is the big tough white man feeling threatened today?

      • +3

more like worried for his kids.
you know, little humans, that get born by woman after man and woman intercourse.

        • +3

Its rated MA15+, what are you worried will happen?

        • Pretty sure that's hate speech nowadays. You should never assume someone's gender.

  • +5

Game will be purchasable for $5~$20 within a month or two so even the people that want to play it (but why?) would be better off waiting in terms of the Ozbargain spirit.

Developer will be keen to chase every cent as it has lost a bomb and so will go run through pricing levels swiftly to try to extract what value they can.

    • +1

Agreed. It could also end up in a game bundle or something similar down the road which might make it even cheaper.

  • +2
  • +6

Any game that starts with what are your pronouns is a no play for me

    • That's such a wild reason to miss out on good games like BG3 or Cyberpunk, if you choose the pronoun that matches your look your game will be exactly the way you originally wanted it to be.

Is it just that upsetting knowing a group of people you hate got something that makes them happy?

      • -1

        Just preference, no hate

        • I just thought it was an odd thing to say so I was wondering what the reasoning was, it would be like someone saying they refused to keep playing Pokemon after professor oak asked them if they were a boy or a girl rather than just choosing what they wanted.

  • +1

    Lol. Lots of negative comments.

I've been playing 50 hours and in the last quest now. I really enjoyed it depite of all negativism. The WOKE comes mostly from a character named Tarsh. You can choose whatever you want…it doesn't really force you to have an influence on that.

    • So is it possible to kick Tarsh off your team? Only interested in the quests, not interested in they/themā€™s sexuality.

      • +1

If you are interested in a good RPG you should probably look elsewhere anyway, even if you completely removed that character the game is a decent action game with bad writing.

      • +1

        Ok, well uh… I'm non-binary

      • You can't kick off her.
But you can avoid her by not choosing her side quests. Also in combat, I didn't bring her with me. It was also with other companions.

  • This a game look bad

  • -1

Will be picking this up just to make the babies here cry harder. lmao.

  • Hold out for deeper discount. Anthem for precedence, another Bioware product recently.
