So I heard about cows have been given bovaer to stop global warming. The news article mentions Coles, do you think our local butchers are safe from it?

I think its fine as long as you cook it in a teflon air fryer
And use Seed oils
Did you know social media was powered by Koolaid?
Come here for the bargains… always leave confused at the lol's….
Surely a troll thread and the fishing's magnificent in this pond…
I buy from the farmers gate, or from the car boot of a bloke in the pub carpark…
from the car boot of a bloke in the pub carpark
I don't think I'm very popular at the local Asian grocery store.
I reported them to the health department when I saw the guy who works there arriving with dressed sheep or goat (no tail so I didn't know which) carcasses in the boot of his SUV.
Pity - I originally read the banner as "Where Should We buy our BEER from?"
Sigh - Keep on scrolling! ;-)
from a cow
The news article mentions Coles, do you think our local butchers are safe from it?
Everyone is safe from it, butchers included. The only people with any chance of risk from exposure are the people administering the dose in to the cow's feed, and the people that make it in the factory. They are also fine if they follow standard safety precautions that should be taken when dealing with any large amounts of agricultural chemical.
The Bovaer gets fully metabolised to the point that essentially none of it can make it in to the meat/milk of the cows. The part everyone makes a big deal out of, can be safely deemed a non-issue because the dose makes the poison
Research in rats and cows found that doses of 300–500 mg per kg of body weight resulted in ovarian and testicular shrinkage.
To put that in perspective, to achieve the same exposure in humans, a 70 kg human would need to consume 21–35 grams (around 2 tablespoons) of pure 3-NOP a day every day for weeks on end to see this effect.
No human will be exposed to this amount as 3-NOP does not enter milk – it’s fully metabolised in the cow’s gut.
No cow will be exposed to these levels either.
Based on rodent trials and the problems facing the planet, this could provide the "shrunken population growth" we need. BBQ time folks.
I don't mean to state the obvious, but there may be a long road between damage occurring and your testicles actually starting to shrink.
If you don't want to eat this stuff then don't eat it, get your meat elsewhere.
God save the King
What happens when a farmer accidentally spills it on himself? What happens if they accidentally dose some of the cows at rates massively higher than they should due to human errors. What happens if some of the metabolites that we will consume do in fact bio-accumulate? The answer is people may suffer and no one will face consequences
Who cares? It’s all about extracting money from the general public and transferring to the mega rich with fake carbon markets.
There's a million other sources of pollution you're exposed to. What makes this molecule in particular so scary and worth avoiding?
Do you wear a gas mask if you're near any roads (car pollution!) or neon signs (ozone!)? Do you know how much glyphosate is on your weetbix? etc
Just because we are exposed to many forms of pollution does not mean adding more to that list is ok.
It is ok, if the molecule is safe. You should prioritise being mad at chemicals that are actually harmful.
If NOP-3 was a thousand times safer than the BPA that leaches out of the plastic wrap covering your steaks, would you still protest it, or do you just protest everything regardless of evidence?
What happens if they accidentally dose some of the cows at rates massively higher than they should due to human errors
The answer is that, when 3-NOP (Bovaer 10) is used in the recommended formulation, it is entirely utilised during the rumen process for cattle. In laymen terms, it doesn't survive in the 3-NOP compound past the digestion phase. Any excess that does make it past digestion is rapidly metabolised by the animal and turned into endogenous compounds.
What happens if some of the metabolites that we will consume do in fact bio-accumulate?
The answer is they don't and they won't. Over 65 countries have studied this compound over several decades. It has never been detected as "bio-accumulating" in people consuming the meat and milk of animals treated with it.
If you are really concerned about this, I highly recommend you read one of the best recent scientific articles about it, here: https://efsa.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.2903/j.efsa.2021…
Buy it from farms, you can check with them if it has it or not.
I buy my beef directly from the butcher. Luckily for me, he owns his own farm. Grass-fed grass finished beef only. Organic. No hormones/chemicals.
Don't listen to the haters. I am with you on this 100%. Bovaer is disgusting, owned by the World Economic Forum (New World Order).
Bovaer is disgusting, owned by the World Economic Forum (New World Order).
Citation please.
Can anyone suggest where i can buy oestrogen free milk.
Recently my tits are getting bigger and the wife hates the extra compliments I have started to receive.there are a lot of places starting to list they have tested for it and their source is free of it for both beef and milk. ppl shouldn tbuy their bee from coles anyway F ripoff go to your local butcher
yes buy your meat from your local butcher. We had cows all they ate was grass a nd nothing else.
If you are concerned about Bovaer then you should stop consuming ALL cattle based products, meat, milks cheese etc regardless of whether they are fed Bovaer as the products used to make Bovaer are in all cattle as natural occurring chemicals.
FFS just eat a cucumber or something.
A big, juicy one
Why haven't the sea levels risen? Melbourne beachfront was supposed to be flooded out by 2016, remember? Modern scams - climate scam, Poison vaxx bioweapon scam. Using some basic logic, would you therefore still trust them when they say safe and effective? Or you can ignore and watch the football with a cheeseburger. How'd your team go in the draft? Oh wow. Have some beers and bets.
We can choose not to eat meat. I can't choose to undo climate change impacts, (are you blind?) and if you're still denying it, you should seek immediate help.
As I said why haven't the sea levels risen? It's a failed hypothesis. You are brainwashed.
well they have https://earthobservatory.nasa.gov/images/150192/tracking-30-…. silly debate, yes the doom and gloom figures haven't come true but the sea levels are definitely rising.
@gromit: They've always changed. In one lifetime hundreds of years ago they rose 80cm. There were no SUVs back then.
In the 1600s there was a "mini ice age". Levels have been rising slowly and steadily since then but the rate of change has not increased in modern times despite increased burning of fuels.
Any of these stories they come up with are always easily explained. There are many other tricks they've tried like having recoridng stations on tarmac when in the past they've been on grass. Hurricanes and storms have not increased, temps have not increased any more than the slight trend I mentioned from the little ice age. By the way, in major Ice ages of the past, CO2 has been massively higher than now. CO2 levels were becoming so low before thia modern activity, that life was on the way to becoming extinct. It's a trace gas vital to photosynthesis, and the truth is the opposite of what they tell you.
If there was actual proof they'd be ramming it down our throats as mathematical proof but there isn't so they can't. Only wall to wall propaganda, with the theory that if you tell a lie enough, it becomes accepted fact. Like saturation advertising.
@trevor99: sooo now y\ou have gone from "they haven't changed" to "they always change". make your mind up. I never claimed it had anything to do with SUV's or burning fuels, merely refuting your ridiculous statement that they have not risen when they have absolutely risen.
@gromit: Obviously I mean they haven't risen outside natural movements. To make it clear for you there is no "inconvenient truth" no ice caps by 2016 etc nonsense.
@trevor99: again that isn't true. The current rise over the last 30 years is significantly more rapid than the previous 100 years. Whether that is man made or not is debatable. But the current rises are definitely outside the recent norms.
Follow the money, look closely - there's a LOT of profiteering from this scam. One of the primaries was Al Gore, you know the guy that uses 10,000 times more fuel than you, but is now a billionaire. Since then however it's orders of magnitudes larger.
LOL,
I'll pray for you.And I'm an atheist.
You'll never be brainwashed.
I'll be staying away from it, an extra dollar for milk and always buy grass fed from the butcher. There's lists on twitter of the butchers who claim not to have used it in their cattle.
Everything is safe and effective until it's not. Cows farting is not the issue, imagine how much dinosaurs farted. Burning tyre pits, coal, fishing waste and 1000s of other issues probably don't help. Paper straws and red meat are just a diversion.
Everything is safe and effective until it's not.
Some things really are just safe though. Pity no one wants to read to find out, everyone just follows their biases about whether it sounds like NWO or not
Have a look at the SDS for Bovaer 10. Now I'm pretty sure it's a toxic chemical that causes serious multiple issues to humans, 10% of its contents is also unknown.
If you feed something grass Vs grain Vs fruit Vs scraps the taste and nutritional value is evident in the quality of the meat.
Now call me what you want but if something is that is toxic is being added to the feed for the first time and there's some smoke rising I'll stay away from that if I can for obvious reasons. I'll let it play out like seed oils, teflon and other easily avoidable things just because maybe there's a chance in the future they'll be quietly pulled from the market like half the COVID vaccines 🤷🏼.
Caution is optimal and you certainly don't know what the future will hold for this product. 20 years ago the same conversation was being had about asbestos, 30 years ago cigarette companies were found liable.
Spoilers. Your butcher can make all the promises they want about the meat they're selling you. They don't actually know though. Unless your butcher is actually taking tissue samples and submitting them to a NATA accredited laboratory for residue testing, they can't promise you anything.
RE: Safety - The compound has been studied for several decades by over 65 different countries. Not a single one of them has found a negative side effect in humans eating the products of treated animals.
I respect your desire to consume safe products. The 65 countries and decades of research on this compound has been undertaken by both government and non-government entities. No party to date has yet to detected any human health impacts for consumers eating meat or drinking milk from cattle treated with 3-NOP.
Logically then one would think it makes more sense to trust the food safety community than random anonymous bloggers around the world who drum up fear for their own reasons.
@Saywhatold: Logic is knowing a new toxic substance is being introduced into cattle feed.
Logic is knowing what these agencies are pushing and it's not cancer research or adding anything beneficial to the meat.
Logic is knowing how these governments/ngos are financed.
There is no health benefit to the individual so safe to eat and better to eat, logically it's better to go with the better to eat option if you can avoid the safe to eat option.
@AuQld: Holy Christ, you really are off the deep end.
I will agree with you though that when it goes to research, NGOs and academia institutions - and to some degree government departments - do have a biased slant on the fundamentals of their research and set the lens of interpreting results.
But do you think the hundreds and thousands of scientists employed by the governments of the world to offer independent analysis all put on their dark robes and meet in their secret society after hours to plan the overthrow of society?
If you're a tax payer here in Australia you're welcome to understand how your government is financed. They're called Portfolio Budget Statements and they're published for each department/agency each year and is available on their website.
Because I know this sector well I'll leave you with this. When you're eating food in Australia you're consuming with the confidence it is safe, based upon decades and decades of transparent international research and thousands upon thousands of reviews and scrutiny. The ingredients, their compositions, drugs, chemicals, residues. All of it. At the tippy top is called Codex Alimentarius, this aligns all international standards which filter down to domestic/national standards which guarantees the safety of the food you eat when you buy something here in Australia.
On the balance, and I don't want to make you more paranoid because you seen quite on the edge. But you wouldn't believe some of the shit that goes on in the fringes of the food production systems. The absolute worst things with regards to residues, chemicals, and all around nastiness to human health I've seen in the food system have come from the "clean and green alternative" sector. Companies who bill themselves are ultra healthy and safe but in the quest of this goal are pumping their food full of untested and known compounds and chemicals in untested volumes.
So keep that in mind.
@Saywhatold: Yes exactly it's a corrupted system.
All you can do is make informed decisions and come to your own conclusions.
If it's easily avoidable, why take the risk. I won't be asking the steakhouse but if I'm ordering 10kg from the butcher I'll get the best quality I can afford, you can definitely taste the difference between grass and gain fed without a doubt.
If I can avoid adding in anything other than grass I will.
@AuQld: You're beyond help. Enjoy living in an irrational bubble. You're parroting the exact same rhetoric of vaccine deniers. "I'll do my own research and come to my own conclusions".
As a non-expert in the field, you literally cannot make an informed decision when it comes to topics and subject of that field. An informed decision can only come about if you're an actual expert in the field you're reviewing. Otherwise you're just a generalist and you can only make ill-informed decisions.
@Saywhatold: Ehh were given information to make these decisions. Vaccines are a choice, they have risks. Most people get them. Some choose not to.
I think you have a problem with people making their own decisions when it comes to health. It's not an exact science and things change over time experts change their opinions all the time or opinions conflict.
Enjoy your grain fed bovaer steak cooked in seed oil on a teflon pan and don't forget your booster shots. All safe to consume.
I'm not exactly doing heroin by choosing to stay away from all that. Being a non expert and ill informed I'll stay away from as many chemicals as I can doing this is the best option for everyone regardless of what experts are saying.
Grass fed, olive oil, cast iron will do me thanks..
@AuQld: Yeah, they don't tell us if the bovaer is still detected in organ or offal meat… (EDIT: Actually I just found something that states otherwise.)
Furthermore, there needs to be independent testing by others since Pfizer/Moderna lied to us first about the injection staying in the arm…
That's a fact, not that I can 100% say that is a risk, as to not look like a conspiracy theorist.
We all need to make our own choices, but people need to know the "real facts".
@Counter Intelligence: My wife had cancer so needed fertility treatment, after the first dose of COVID her monthlies went from every 28 days for 20 years to random and is still random. We mentioned it to the fertility doctor at the time and he just looked at the table and I could see this wasn't just an isolated case as he just brushed it off and said it wouldn't be a problem. Didn't stop us from having kids but I wouldn't say it helped.
@AuQld: Grass fed, olive oil, cast iron will do me thanks..
Good move ,but..
Your pristine grass fed beef is drenched for worms, vaccinated for disease prevention,back-lined for external parasites etc, and the it's the offspring of the same line of animals sharing that same chemical history. The grass they eat is fertilised and sprayed with herbicides/insecticides and fungicides. You breath asbestos dust ,micro plastic particles, and thousands more chemicals every day. Unless you are eating food provided from some alien godlike provider, from an angles supermarket, you're in the same boat as everyone else. It's not your fault directly. It's just what happens under capitalism. Too many humans demanding an equal amount of food as quickly as it can be produced and still deliver a profit. ( shortcuts are the way) If you think we have it bad, think about what that all means for the nature delivering that tasty cocktail you eat.
It's a long rabbit hole and all the rabbits have teeth like piranhas.PRO TIP: Not all food producers follow the rules .There's a lot of laws and regs around this topic, but the policing part is as good as non-existent. If someone things they can make more money by BS-ing, or labelling their food chemical free or 'organic' they just might do it.
You say your wifes 1st dose of covid. Are you meaning the disease or the vaccine?
Lol tell me you’ve never been on a working cattle farm without telling me. If you only knew what goes on and what’s actually allowed on organic farms.
If you’re worried about Bovaer and things like it, switch to non-farmed seafood or turn vego.
If you’re cool with the meat you’ve been eating to date, consider this one of the lesser evils and take up a hobby like painting.
It depends on if it is a certified organic farm or not.
Biosolids are not allowed for an organic ACO certification.
Even certified farms. There is a lot of permitted treatments because it’s necessary for the health of the cattle and maintenance of feeding paddocks.
All of this stuff is fine for human health, however people kid themselves living under the illusion that’s it’s all pure.
Exactly. Australian ag is as clean and green as Putin is a pacifist.
Bovaer: Silicon dioxide (60% w/w), Propylene glycol, 3-nitrooxypropanol (10% w/w). Untested but safe and effective. Experts say. Trust the experts because you're not a doctor.
She'll be right ;)
Oh, so Twitter is where everyone is getting these balanced and educated takes from. Makes sense
Yawn, another empty and generic attack the messenger statement. If you don't believe the toxicities she's listing you can look it up yourself.
It seems hypocritical to call me out for attacking the messenger, when you disregard expert opinion because you don't agree with their conclusions. If anyone else told you their sources were a lady on TikTok/X, I hope you would hazard to take their opinion as fact
I believe she is repeating what is on the SDS because I've looked at it myself prior to this. I don't believe it's an actual problem because the levels that could possibly make it in to you as a (presumably) regular consumer is incapable of causing any measurable/noticeable hazards. She also mentions Bill Gates, who has nothing to do with Bovaer, his funding goes towards Rumin8 and I struggle to accept that either additive is part of his plan for world domination
@SpainKing: Trust the experts. Expert opinion. Geez. Not good enough. Has it been tested long term for health effects with control groups? No. Therefore live testing on the whole population is unacceptable. End of story. Anything else is speculation and hypothetical, like saying the dose is too low to hurt you. How can you possibly guess that? Maybe you'll get cancer from it.
As for the hypothetic benefits, methane is part of the natural cycle and is not toxic to the planet. After several years it breaks down in the atmosphere to water. So methane cows produce is only replacing the methane put there by cows 8 years ago.
@trevor99: I'm sorry, but I have to trust the experts over random strangers on OzBargain and TikTok, it just wouldn't be due diligence to place all my faith in news that comes across to me as fear mongering
Yes, it has been tested over the long term, it's 15 years old and has had scientists from many (scrupulous) countries deeming it to be safe/beneficial. They have tested the amounts that would be transferred to an adult through consumption of beef and dairy, and they are negligible if not non-existent
You can take your personal choices and safety in to consideration and not eat it, that's your prerogative. You shouldn't be feeding from the trough of misinformation that is exaggerating the risks (which you can't know of if everything is speculative/hypothetical). You aren't a scientist and haven't done any work or research with the chemical
Maybe you'll get cancer from it
You could make this exact same argument for the red meat you consume. The trepidation around Bovaer should be overshadowed by the concern you have for eating it in general. If you were truly so worried, you wouldn't eat it to begin with
I stated in my other comments that methane breaks down in to water and carbon dioxide (another greenhouse gas). The argument that it is just replacing methane from 8 years ago makes little sense. It's like saying "yeah, we can pump more emissions in to the atmosphere, we're just replacing everything the mining companies used to put out but no longer do thanks to green energy"
If you don't believe in global warming, unfortunately we aren't going to be able to see eye to eye at any point in the near future
@SpainKing: Actually I am a scientist, from Melb Uni. No more personal info than that
@trevor99: Surely you tell me whether you're a bovine or climate scientist at least. Congrats on getting the degree and making it work for you
We need more research about whether it accumulates in beef offal or organs.
I love my beef offal cuts!!! X_x!
Last we heard about the mRNA vaccine we were told it stays in the arm, but it is now found in the reproductive organs and Pfizer and Moderna have already publicly come out and stated this. I'm not saying that's dangerous per se, but we need to know the facts.
If the vaccine affects fertility, maybe it should be considered an act of god?
And in that case the cookers( who are all highly principled un-vaccinated geniuses) should just shut up and let the vaccinated fade from existence.
We had procedures in place for any chemical interventions that these days appear to get immediately bypassed if enough money is thrown around. Emergency is declared and it's approved. These controls were in place for a reason, following many years of scientific trail, error and research. For example it took up to 10 years for any medical injection to be approved, with level 1,2,3 trials including control groups to test for any irregular damage. Medicines could fail at level 3 after years of testing because of some increase in side effects. For example the COVID Vax had very short testing and the control group was vaxxed a month later so no effect could be observed. We're now seeing dramatic rises in excess death and infertility, turbo cancers via gnome editing, heart attacks, clots etc. This would have halted the rollouts if procedures were followed. It's all very sad and in the case of Bovaer it's yet again being live tested on the whole population. It's become the Darwin awards at this stage because most people can't get over the TV news to follow basic logic.
It's not really a fair comparison you're making. Bovaer has been developed and tested over 15 years at this point. Even if you have a problem with the COVID vaccine rollout, this is a thoroughly scrutinised and tested additive
Any negative health impacts it could possibly have (the evidence points towards it being none or negligible) is outweighed and overshadowed by the risks inherent from eating red meat to begin with. It's like worrying about enamel erosion from brushing your teeth, when the real issue would be not brushing them in the first place
I should ask, if this additive was pervasive in the cattle industry and you were unable to source beef without it (short of raising and slaughtering your own cows), would you continue to eat beef or swear it off altogether?
Yes, support alternatives. Many suppliers putting their hands up now as clean alternatives, like A2 or Pauls milk for example.
To take the position of "i can't do anything about it anyway so why fight" is pathetic. Vote with your dollars.
I have no problem with consumers having a choice over what to buy. My problem is discounting/disregarding "new" technology because of an appeal to nature. I have similar issues with homoeopathic medicine. If the additive reduces methane emissions from cows by over 20%, that's equivalent to having 20% fewer cows producing methane. It's an organic molecule that inhibits a bacterial enzyme that breaks food down into methane, which doesn't get passed on in to the food we consume (evidence pending on the offal I have seen mentioned in previous comments)
You can call it a pathetic position, but you failed to engage with the hypothetical of if you would still consume beef if Bovaer was a pervasive additive. You inherently take on the risks of eating red meat when you consume it, to take issue with an additive that has nil chance of you consuming enough to have a noticeable impact seems parochial when the goal you appear to have is putting your individual health first above any other factors
If I entertain the notion that this additive is somehow hazardous, the health and economic rewards achieved by having less pollution/methane in the atmosphere outweighs any risk Bovaer seems to currently pose when used as prescribed
@SpainKing: Methane is part of the natural cycle and is not toxic to the planet. After several years it breaks down in the atmosphere to water. So methane cows produce is only replacing the methane put there by cows 8 years ago. So when you say new technology and economic rewards you are unfortunately parotting globalist billionaire propaganda. I don't blame people for taking your position because the brain washing is very powerful. We are being hit from all directions constantly. Methane is a natural harmless compound, Bovaer is not.
As far as the veg/meat argument I have been trying to eat less meat for years, agree with that. I believe there will continue to be alternatives to Bill Gates type farms or the world will become very bleak.
@trevor99: The planet isn't a living organism, something being part of its natural cycle doesn't predicate t as a good thing for its inhabitants. "Several years" appears to be a decade to 12 years from my cursory research, where it then breaks down in to water and carbon dioxide (another greenhouse gas)
This leads me to believe that cows are not just replacing the methane they put in to the system 200 or 8 years ago
I'm not parroting globalist propaganda, I'm expressing my own thoughts based off the research I've done, just like you do yours. I could call you brainwashed as well but ad hominem attacks defeats the point of critical debate
Methane is a natural harmless compound, Bovaer is not
Using the word "natural" doesn't erase the fact that methane is a potent greenhouse gas and the Earth is warming as a result of all the gases we pump in to it. It is not harmless unless you look at it from the perspective of a thoughtless, floating rock in space. Volcanic eruptions are also harmless and natural for the Earth but that doesn't make it good for its inhabitants (people like you and me). The textiles in your clothes, materials that constitute your house and the frying pan you cook with could hardly be called natural, but they are beneficial (like Bovaer proves to be with the current weight of empirical evidence)
I hope your reduced meat lifestyle has been treating you well and you've discovered some tasty dishes as a result
Could you please form a logical, followable link between Bill Gates' plan for globalism/world domination, and cow burps?
@SpainKing: The excuse of Methane reduction is another fake distraction to add poison to your body. It hasn't been tested long term with control groups so very simply it's unacceptable. It's like in maths when you prove a contradiction, no need to hypothesize or go any further. Safety has been bypassed.
The "logical, followable link from Gates" is very simple. He wants to reduce the population as he says blatently. Don't take my word for it, look at the excess deaths and huge reduction in fertitlity since 2021. May be hard to accept because it's so far from people's entrenched ideas, but step back calmly and look around at the facts.
@trevor99: It's not an excuse, it's clearly demonstrated and repeatable science. Methane is a potent greenhouse gas. Reducing that would be cool for the world we live in so we don't face massive crop failure from global warming which would lead to far more deaths. How can you say safety has been bypassed when the chemical has been developed and tested over the course of 15 years?
Your link just doesn't make logical sense to me. If Bill Gates' plan was to reduce the population he has far more effective means of going about it. Reducing methane emissions works against him because it lowers the risk of catastrophic crop failure which would lead many to starve to death
I am entrenched in my ideas as you are yours, I appreciate the discussion but I think we may have to agree to disagree here
@SpainKing: "If Bill Gates' plan was to reduce the population he has far more effective means of going about it."
I can't think of one like the vax. Cancer, heart attacks, clots, fertility reduction, dna genome editing, organ shutdown, from "emergency" interventions. No liability thanks to contracts and govts and plausible deniability. Sorry we messed up, will come much later when too late.
Congress and their staff are all exempt, Judges here made themselves exempt, billionaires are exempt, etc.
What would be more effective?
@SpainKing: As far as the climate scam Gates has several private jets, like Al Gore and the others. DiCaprio has private yacht, private jet etc and stands at the front in climate marches. Only simple minded people could believe they're sincere.
Is A2 and Paul’s clean alternatives for milk?
@Tomstars241: yes

It's a pandemic of the unvaccinated.
