I used to be with it art, but then they changed what it art was. Now what I'm with isn't it art, and what's it art seems weird and scary to me, and it'll happen to you, too
Hahahahahaha. Look up Tom Polo and you’ll see that $20 is a relative bargain for such a simple face. His similar portrait works on paper go for $2000-$7000 each
Well someone bought it!
I did, purely because of that comment. :P
Photo when you’ve got it hung up!!
@Occas: I'll get it framed some time in jan and reply with a photo of it framed :)
Showing full price for me…
@lia111 I think worth adding context to the post. By the looks it’s not for profit with money going to support art for those with disabilities which is great.
I don’t get who the artists are though as looks like absolutely anyone can submit a piece. I looked at the artist list and see Aaron Chen is listed. Is that the comedian or just someone with same name. How do I buy his work?
The idea of it is that you buy art you like without knowing the artists name until you receive the piece of art.
Some artists who submit sell works (albeit larger ones) for $100,000+, others are common folk like you and I. People line up overnight for first dibs on works by famous artists. You just need to know what you're looking for.
I'm just buying what I like.
Happy to have it be from whoever. :)
@Originality: I like the concept but couldn’t see anything I liked or personally would consider art. I thought it’d be funny to buy Aaron Chens art if you could pick artist as it’d be a funny talking piece to say he is better at comedy than art when people ask about why I have a some kids painting on my wall.
looks like someone is exploiting the local kindergartens for child labour to produce much of these
Exploiting their neighbours wheelie bins…
This is a great deal considering the original prices. Yes the available stock has whittled down - but first in best dressed for some of the sought-after artists and artworks.
I personally submitted (and purchased) artworks and found it a great way to get involved. The artist is revealed at the back of the artwork when you receive it - hence "Incognito".
Proceeds go to charities Studio A and We Are Studios.
There is some lovely pieces in the lot.
Bought 6 myself. Seems like an amazing thing all around.
Bought a few (6) after seeing its a NFP and the money goes to helping others :)
Looking forward to getting them.
Browsed through the remaining available art over the weekend and ended up buying 7 more pieces.
There's some pretty cool art, no matter who the artist is.
I'm loving this!
Purchased 13 more after this comment seeing as they dropped to $10 each
Okay, last purchase for me. Bought a total of 20 more.
"Staff picks" reassures me that some of the staff have zero taste in art
I’d be fascinated to see if there are any well-known artists still hiding amongst the rest of the works
They're now $10 per piece till the 20th. Very good
